Where the claim that Spider-Man 4 won’t be a multiverse movie came from
The categorical claim began as an insider rumor. On September 11, 2024, BGR reported that an account called CanWeGetSomeToast had said on X that the sequel would not be a multiverse movie. BGR also relayed other unconfirmed story details, including speculation about Peter being in early college. These were rumors, not a studio plot announcement. BGR’s September 2024 report is useful for tracing the claim, not treating it as confirmed fact.
What Sony has officially confirmed about the film
Sony’s official title for the fourth Tom Holland Spider-Man film is Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Its page says the story takes place four years after Spider-Man: No Way Home. Peter is fighting crime full-time in a world that does not remember him, while a new threat emerges and he undergoes a transformation. Sony’s official film page establishes the title and broad premise, but does not provide a complete plot synopsis or declare whether the multiverse appears.
What the filmmakers have said about its scale
Kevin Feige: city-level crime
In comments reported by GamesRadar+ on July 21, 2025, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige described Peter as being on his own, saving the city and dealing with “street-level crime as opposed to world-ending events.” That is evidence of the story’s intended emphasis, not a scene-by-scene plot outline. Amy Pascal: emotional scale
Producer Amy Pascal was reported by ComingSoon on June 5, 2026, describing Brand New Day as “a more internal movie” whose bigness is emotional rather than about worlds exploding. This reinforces a character-focused direction, but it is not a categorical statement that the film contains no multiverse connection or cameo. ComingSoon’s report attributes the remarks to Pascal’s interview with Empire.

The most accurate answer is that the public evidence points to a grounded, emotionally focused story, while the claim that it definitively will not be a multiverse movie remains unconfirmed. Sony’s premise and the later comments from Feige and Pascal describe Peter’s circumstances and the film’s scale; none rules out every multiverse element. Until Sony or the filmmakers make that explicit, “street-level focus” is better supported than “no multiverse.”
