How the hosts reacted
During the broadcast, Whoopi Goldberg drew attention to someone in the audience, and the camera revealed Reynolds sitting beside his mother. Goldberg remarked, “You never know what’s going on here at ‘The View,’” according to TheWrap’s June 10 account.
Reynolds joked about being on the audience side of the set: “By the way, this is way less stressful than up there,” referring to the hosts’ table. TheWrap also reported that his mother was later brought onstage and delivered the show’s familiar sign-off.
