Ryan Reynolds answered Neil Patrick Harris’s casting as Deadpool in Marvel’s Deadpool VR with a comic video—not a genuine dispute over the role. The sketch riffs on Harris’s early TV series Doogie Howser, M.D.; Harris voices Deadpool in the game, while Reynolds does not reprise his film role there.
What Ryan Reynolds’s reaction was
Hours after the game trailer appeared, Reynolds posted a short parody video in which he wears a lab coat and glasses, evoking Harris’s role as a young doctor in Doogie Howser, M.D. Robyn Lively also appears in the clip, according to The Independent’s June 9, 2025 report.
In the sketch, Reynolds jokes about someone taking a signature role, then says Harris is “an amazing actor with the nurturing voice of an angel.” The line is part of the parody, not a statement about an actual casting fight. GameSpot’s June 10 coverage likewise describes the clip as Reynolds’s response to the game’s casting.
Who voices Deadpool in Deadpool VR?
Neil Patrick Harris voices Deadpool in Marvel’s Deadpool VR. Reynolds is associated with the character through the live-action films, but the game’s casting does not replace his portrayal across Marvel projects. The game was developed by Meta-owned Twisted Pixel Games in collaboration with Marvel Games, as reported by UploadVR on June 6, 2025.

What the game is and where to play it
Deadpool VR is an original story that sends the character into the Mojoverse, where he faces Mojo and Lady Deathstrike. It launched for Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S. UploadVR reported on November 18, 2025 that the game was available exclusively on those headsets and listed a US price of $50 at the time. That is a dated price report, not a guarantee of the current store price.
The Meta Horizon Store listing is the place to check current availability and pricing. Watching Reynolds’s parody does not require a headset; playing the game does require a compatible Quest 3 or Quest 3S headset. The cited coverage does not establish that a separate accessory is required.
