Marvel’s March 26, 2025 Avengers: Doomsday cast-chair livestream introduced 27 names, but it had no official ranking. Here’s an editorial one, weighing each reveal’s casting significance, the chair’s reported visual gag, and how much it reshaped the announced ensemble. The evidence supports a few standout moments—not a reliable chair-by-chair ranking of all 27.
What was the Avengers: Doomsday chair livestream?
Marvel revealed an initial 27-person cast lineup through named directors’ chairs in a livestream on March 26, 2025. The Los Angeles Times described a deliberately slow format: about one new named chair every 10 minutes, with no apparent order. It reported a runtime of five hours and 26 minutes; The Walt Disney Company gave the duration as five hours and 27 minutes. In practical terms, it was roughly five and a half hours long.
Disney reported that the announcement drew 275 million digital views and 3.1 million social interactions across platforms. Those are the company’s campaign figures, not independent audience measurements. Marvel’s post announcing the event said, “It all leads to Doom.” (The Walt Disney Company, March 28, 2025; Los Angeles Times, March 26, 2025)
Ranking the most memorable reported reveals
This is an editorial ranking, not an order supplied by Marvel. It balances casting significance with the distinctiveness of the reported staging and the reveal’s impact on the announced lineup. The available reporting gives specific chair details for only a small number of moments, so ranking all 27 would require inventing distinctions the evidence does not establish.

-
Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom
The strongest reveal for sheer casting significance: Downey had already been announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2024 as Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom, not Tony Stark/Iron Man. His chair moment still made a fitting capstone to the lineup: the Los Angeles Times reports that he walked down the line and sat in his chair at the end. This is the clearest convergence of the event’s Doom framing, a major role, and memorable staging.
-
Paul Rudd as Ant-Man
The sharpest reported chair-specific joke was Rudd’s ant-sized chair. It gave the format a piece of visual comedy tailored to the character rather than relying on the name alone. The gag is simple, instantly legible, and one of the few chair details described in the published coverage.

Tom Hiddleston as Loki
Hiddleston’s reveal stands out for its placement in the marathon: the Los Angeles Times put it about three hours and 45 minutes into the stream. That makes it a memorable point in the viewing experience, but not evidence of Loki’s screen time, plot importance, or position in the film’s story.

The X-Men names in the lineup
Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden made the announced ensemble reach across Marvel film eras. The lineup also included newer MCU figures and returning Avengers, making its breadth more consequential than any one name alone. The official announcement confirms the names, but the available reporting does not support ranking each actor’s individual chair moment or inferring their roles in the plot.

The wider cross-generation ensemble
Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Pedro Pascal, and the other announced actors made this a broad initial cast rather than a single-team roll call. That range is the event’s most important ensemble-level reveal. Since the coverage does not give distinctive staging for most chairs, there is no defensible basis for assigning the other names precise individual ranks.
Who was announced in the original 27-chair reveal?
D23’s official announcement lists these 27 actors: Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Robert Downey Jr. Downey was identified as previously announced. Was that the full Avengers: Doomsday cast?
No. The 27 chairs represented an initial announcement, not a final cast list. Disney’s current film page includes further names, among them Chris Evans, Kathryn Newton, and Mabel Cadena. Disney’s March 28, 2025 report also quoted Marvel’s tease, “There’s always room for more…” In September 2026, GamesRadar+ reported that director Anthony Russo said some, but not all, of the cast had been announced. (Disney’s current film page; The Walt Disney Company, March 28, 2025; GamesRadar+, September 25, 2026)
What the chair order does—and does not—tell you
The sequence appeared to have no particular order, according to the Los Angeles Times. A chair’s position in the livestream therefore should not be treated as a ranking, a clue to the film’s alliances, or a measure of a character’s screen time. Disney describes the film as a story in which heroes from three distinct universes face an existential threat, but its official synopsis does not establish which announced characters will oppose one another or how much any actor will appear. The film page currently lists an exclusive theatrical release date of December 18, 2026. (Los Angeles Times, March 26, 2025; Disney Movies)
