The show ended early. The band later canceled the remaining North American tour dates, and in December 2025 its members said they would pursue separate creative work. Reporting on December 22, 2025, said lawsuits filed by both sides had been settled and dismissed.
What happened at the Boston concert?
The altercation took place during Jane’s Addiction’s September 13, 2024 performance at Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston. Contemporary reports described video showing Farrell shove and punch Navarro before crew members restrained Farrell and the show ended early. The Associated Press later estimated the crowd at about 4,000; that figure is a reported estimate, not a verified venue count.
Variety’s September 15, 2024 report covered the band’s first response and the cancellation of its next scheduled concert. The Guardian’s September 16 report, amended September 17, also described the incident and the subsequent tour decision.
What did Jane’s Addiction apologize for?
The band’s initial public apology was directed to fans for the events of the previous night. Farrell later made a separate personal apology to his bandmates, particularly Navarro, and to fans, saying he regretted his conduct during the performance. These were distinct statements, not a single joint apology.

In a later statement reproduced by Pitchfork, Farrell said of the Boston show: “In Boston, we fell short of that, and I’m truly sorry to everyone who was impacted.” The remark appeared among the parties’ further statements published in December 2025.
Why were the remaining tour dates canceled?
After the incident, the band canceled its next scheduled concert. Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins then announced that the remaining North American dates would not go ahead. They cited concerns about Farrell’s and their own personal health and safety, and said they could not ensure a safe stage environment or consistently deliver a strong performance.

Those reasons were given by Navarro, Avery, and Perkins in their statement. They should not be conflated with Farrell’s separate apology or treated as independent findings about events beyond what was publicly reported.

Farrell and the band issued additional statements in December 2025. The band said it had decided unilaterally to stop the tour and regretted inaccurate statements it had made about Farrell’s mental health. Its statement said: “After that show, without notice to Perry, we unilaterally determined it would be best to not continue the tour and made inaccurate statements about Perry’s mental health which we regret.”

The members also described separate creative futures: “We now look forward to the future as we embark on our separate musical and creative endeavors.” Pitchfork reported on December 22, 2025, that the lawsuits filed by both sides had been settled and dismissed. That is the reported legal outcome; allegations in lawsuits and statements by the parties are not, by themselves, findings of fact.
Pitchfork’s December 17, 2025 article reproduced the statements and was updated with the reported settlement and dismissal. The Associated Press’s 2025 report covered the competing lawsuits and attributed disputed claims to the parties making them.
