What is The Terminal List: Dark Wolf?
Dark Wolf is a prequel and origin story in The Terminal List universe. It follows Ben Edwards as he moves from the Navy SEALs into CIA Special Operations and becomes entangled in black operations. Prime Video describes the story as a test of Ben’s loyalties and his struggle with darker impulses. The series is framed as action and drama, with a 16+ advisory for violence, alcohol use, smoking, foul language and sexual content. See Prime Video’s series listing.
Is Chris Pratt in the trailer and series?
Yes. Pratt returns as James Reece, the central character of the original The Terminal List. Kitsch is the lead of Dark Wolf, playing Ben Edwards; the supporting cast includes Tom Hopper as Raife Hastings and Rona-Lee Shimon as Eliza Perash, alongside Robert Wisdom, Luke Hemsworth, Dar Salim, Shiraz Tzarfati and Jared Shaw. Amazon’s series announcement and cast details identify the returning and new roles.
When did the trailer and series come out?
Prime Video published its official Dark Wolf trailer on July 31, 2025. The series premiered August 27, 2025, with three episodes released that day and subsequent episodes arriving weekly through September 24. Prime Video’s current listing shows seven episodes in the first season. The series is available on Prime Video, though catalog access and membership terms can vary by territory.

How does the prequel fit the timeline?
Dark Wolf takes place before the events of the 2022 The Terminal List, but published descriptions differ on the interval. Amazon says seven years before; an Associated Press report describes it as about five years earlier. The sources do not settle that discrepancy, so neither interval should be treated as definitive. The AP interview with Kitsch also gives context on his approach to Ben, including his comment: “I take the utmost pride to be authentic and rooted in Ben, but there’s a dark side to service.” That is Kitsch’s interview remark, not dialogue from the trailer.
What to watch next in the franchise
For a character-focused viewing path, watch Dark Wolf before the original series: the spin-off follows Ben’s earlier career, while The Terminal List centers on Reece. The original series is based on Jack Carr’s novel of the same name. The available sources establish the franchise connection, but do not identify Dark Wolf as an adaptation or novelization of a separate book.
