Season 4 of Only Murders in the Building opens with the murder of Sazz Pataki and ends with a new death at the Arconia. In between, Charles, Oliver, and Mabel follow the case to Hollywood, uncover a screenplay theft, and see Oliver and Loretta marry. Here’s the spoiler-filled recap, including the clues that set up the next mystery.
Who killed Sazz Pataki?
Charles’s longtime stunt double and confidante, Sazz Pataki, is murdered at the start of the season. The trio’s first major question is whether the killer meant to target Sazz—or Charles. That uncertainty drives the investigation and puts Charles’s connection to the crime at its center.
Why does the investigation go to Hollywood?
As Charles, Oliver, and Mabel investigate, their true-crime podcast is being adapted into a movie. The production brings them to Hollywood and introduces a new set of egos and suspicions to a case already tangled up with the trio’s lives.
Who is the killer, and what was the motive?
The killer is Marshall, who is secretly Rex Bailey. He murdered Sazz to cover up that he had stolen her screenplay. The trio are endangered before Jan returns and saves them.
