Hulu’s official trailer sells The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives with a “swinging sex scandal” hook, but that phrase is promotional framing—not independent confirmation of every allegation or every cast member’s role. The series follows a Utah-based circle of Mormon mom influencers known as MomTok, and Hulu’s guide describes the underlying disclosure more narrowly as “soft-swing.”
What does the trailer say?
In its official trailer description, Hulu says: “The scandalous world of a group of Mormon mom influencers implodes when they get caught in the midst of a swinging sex scandal that makes international headlines.” That is Hulu’s marketing language for the series. It should not be read as a finding by an independent authority about the private conduct of every person shown.
The trailer, published August 14, 2024, announced that all first-season episodes would premiere on Hulu on September 6, 2024. That is a historical premiere announcement, not a guarantee that the show is available today in every territory. Watch Hulu’s official trailer.
What is MomTok?
Hulu describes MomTok as a community of mothers who make TikTok content and says the series follows a prominent circle of MomTokers based in Utah. The show’s story concerns that particular influencer circle; it should not be generalized to Mormon women or Latter-day Saint communities as a whole. Hulu’s MomTok guide was revised June 26, 2025.

What does “soft-swing” mean in Hulu’s account?
Hulu’s guide attributes the disclosure to Taylor Frankie Paul. It says she and a small group of other MomTokers and their husbands had agreed to “soft-swing,” which Hulu defines as consensual physical intimacy with others under agreed boundaries, short of full partner swapping. The guide’s account does not identify every person involved in that passage, so it does not support assigning the conduct to all the named cast members.
That narrower description is distinct from the trailer’s broader “swinging sex scandal” phrase. Keeping the terms separate matters: the trailer provides the show’s promotional hook, while the guide gives Hulu’s account of the disclosure and its definition of “soft-swing.”
