During Taylor Swift’s July 14, 2024, Eras Tour show in Milan, her piano malfunctioned as she began “Getaway Car.” She joked with the crowd, a crew member helped, and she continued after the instrument was fixed. Swift suggested it had overheated, but no independent technical diagnosis was reported.
What happened to Taylor Swift’s piano in Milan?
The problem occurred during the second of Swift’s two Milan shows that weekend, on July 14, 2024. She had started “Getaway Car” when the piano stopped working. In Storyful’s video record, a crew member assists her; Swift closes the lid, and the crowd cheers as she begins playing again. MusicRadar likewise reported that a technician helped and that Swift continued after the piano was fixed.
Swift joked about the interruption. Storyful quoted her saying, “We might have finally broken this thing,” followed later by, “Oh, I did it!” The brief pause became part of the performance rather than stopping the song.
Did the piano overheat?
MusicRadar reported Swift telling the audience, “I think my piano overheated – we’re just gonna restart.” That was her in-the-moment guess, not a confirmed cause. Neither MusicRadar nor Storyful reported an independent diagnosis, so the specific technical reason for the malfunction is not established.
