Love Is Blind creator and showrunner Chris Coelen says production pays for the engagement rings it provides, and contestants who receive those rings keep them—even if the engagement ends. That policy does not establish who paid for a particular contestant’s optional upgrade or personal ring.
Who pays for the engagement rings on Love Is Blind?
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, updated October 10, 2025, Coelen said production supplies ring choices and pays for the rings contestants select. As he put it, “We supply them with the rings, and at that point, those rings are theirs.” Contestants are not required to choose a show-provided ring; they may bring their own.
Coelen described the usual price range for the production-provided rings as $3,500–$5,000, with variation. That is his general description in 2025, not an independently verified price list, a current retail quote, or the confirmed cost of any particular ring. TV Insider also reported Coelen’s explanation of the show’s payment and selection policy.
Do contestants keep a ring after a breakup?
According to Coelen, a contestant who receives a ring paid for by the show keeps it if the engagement ends. The policy concerns rings supplied by production; it should not be read as a rule covering every personal or heirloom ring, private purchase, or upgrade.

What if a contestant upgrades the ring or brings their own?
Optional upgrades
Coelen said contestants may upgrade a ring, but production has no role in that choice. His general policy does not identify who paid for any particular upgrade. Without direct confirmation, it is not possible to infer a named contestant’s out-of-pocket cost from the stated range or from the fact that upgrades are allowed.
Personal and heirloom rings
Contestants can bring their own ring instead of selecting one supplied by production. PopSugar reports that a contestant brought a family ring, illustrating why the show’s payment policy should not be generalized to every ring seen on the series.

Coelen previously explained in a 2020 Entertainment Tonight interview that contestants could not go out to a shop while living at the pod facility, so production offered ring choices. That is context for the selection process, not proof that every season or contestant follows an identical arrangement.
What does the season 9 $5,000 ring claim establish?
Coverage of season 9 recounts a cast member’s on-screen claim about spending $5,000. Coelen’s broad 2025 price range is similar, but it does not confirm that individual’s payment, whether the ring was upgraded, or whether the person chose a personal ring. The claim should therefore remain attributed rather than treated as proof of the contestant’s actual out-of-pocket cost; Entertainment Weekly covers both the claim and Coelen’s account.

Were rings supplied by the same company every season?
Us Weekly reports that Bridal Rings Co supplied rings for seasons 4 and 5. That sourcing detail is limited to those seasons; it does not establish one supplier or an unchanged process across the entire series.
