What is Trooping the Colour?
Trooping the Colour is the King’s Birthday Parade, marking the British Sovereign’s official birthday. The Royal Family’s explainer says the tradition has marked the official birthday for over 260 years.

The ceremony takes place on Horse Guards Parade, followed by the return to Buckingham Palace. The Royal Air Force flypast watched from the palace balcony by members of the Royal Family closes the display.
What happened at the 2025 parade?
At the 2025 event, King Charles III wore the Coldstream Guards uniform, in keeping with the custom that the Sovereign wears the uniform of the regiment whose Colour is trooped. The Prince and Princess of Wales and their children travelled in a carriage. The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence were also in carriages; the Prince of Wales, Duke of Edinburgh, and Princess Royal attended on horseback.

No. The 14 names and their order are specific to the 14 June 2025 balcony appearance, and royal titles or roles may change. A 2026 Court Circular entry records senior royals attending that year’s parade but does not enumerate the complete balcony group, so it cannot establish a full 2026 balcony roster.
