Kendrick Lamar performed “Not Like Us” during the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show on February 9, 2025, at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The Associated Press reported that he omitted the word “pedophiles” from the performance lyrics; the song moved into “tv off.”
What happened during “Not Like Us”?
Lamar performed the song as part of the 2025 halftime show. AP’s Maria Sherman reported that the performance omitted the word “pedophiles” from the lyrics. That description refers to the live performance, not a change to every release or version of the song. AP also reported that “Not Like Us” was followed by “tv off.” Read AP’s performance review.
Who performed with Kendrick Lamar?
SZA joined Lamar for “Luther” and “All the Stars,” according to AP. Producer Mustard appeared, and tennis star Serena Williams was seen dancing during “Not Like Us.” Samuel L. Jackson introduced the show as Uncle Sam; AP described the production’s visual framing, but those images do not establish a single definitive interpretation.
Where can you watch the full performance?
| Option | What it offers | Access note |
|---|---|---|
| NFL video | The NFL-hosted full-performance video, with SZA featured. | Check the page for current availability in your territory. |
| Apple Music concert film | A 13-minute, PG-rated concert film in Spatial Audio, featuring SZA. | Catalog access may vary by territory and service. |
The NFL and Apple listings are two ways to revisit the show; the Apple listing identifies it as a concert film. Neither should be confused with Lamar’s album GNX, which is a separate recording.

Why this was a notable Super Bowl appearance
This was Lamar’s first time headlining the Super Bowl halftime show. He had previously appeared as a guest during the Super Bowl LVI halftime show in 2022, as the NFL noted in its announcement of his 2025 booking. In that announcement, Lamar said: “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why,” followed by “They got the right one.”

The NFL’s booking announcement reported that “Not Like Us” had spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and that Lamar had won 17 Grammy Awards at that time. Those are figures from the announcement, not claims about his current totals. Apple’s February 3, 2025 event announcement said GNX had reached No. 1 in 129 countries on release and called “Not Like Us” the top-streamed song on Apple Music worldwide at that time. Apple’s event announcement.
The NFL’s current halftime page retrospectively lists 133.5 million viewers for the 2025 show and calls it the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show at the time of that page’s statement. Because audience records can change, treat that as the NFL page’s time-sensitive retrospective figure, not a permanent record. NFL halftime show page.
