The Associated Press reported that Buckingham Palace said lingering post-viral symptoms prompted doctors to advise rest after a busy week of engagements. The King attended the performance as planned.
“Following a recent chest infection, the Queen continues to experience some lingering post-viral symptoms, as a result of which doctors have advised that, after a busy week of engagements, Her Majesty should prioritize sufficient rest.”

Is Camilla taking a break now?
As of 4 October 2026, the official material cited here does not confirm a current break. The Royal Family announced an Autumn Tour for the King and Queen from 27 October to 4 November 2026, including a visit to Antigua and Barbuda for CHOGM 2026.
