Spoilers for ‘Ghosts’ through Season 3, Episode 8: Flower was not “sucked off.” She was trapped in a well on the Woodstone property after following a butterfly. The ghost who actually moved on was Ralph, one of the basement ghosts.
Why the Season 2 finale made Flower seem to vanish
In the Season 2 finale, “The Heir,” Sam and Jay hear a commotion and see a beam of white light over the house. Sam concludes, “Oh my God, I think one of the ghosts just got sucked off!” The episode leaves the spirit’s identity unresolved. In the show’s comic vocabulary, “sucked off” means that a ghost has moved on; the moment does not establish exactly what the afterlife is.

Why the Season 3 premiere pointed to Flower
In the Season 3 premiere, “The Owl,” which aired February 15, 2024, Sam, Jay, and the remaining ghosts try to work out who left. Flower appears to be the answer, and the house mourns her. That apparent departure was later overturned. Co-showrunner Joe Port explained to TVLine that the choice was meant to matter to the ensemble: “We didn’t want it to be an inconsequential, so to speak, ghost that had no ramifications for the rest of the house.”
Where was Flower on ‘Ghosts’?
Flower was at the bottom of a well elsewhere on the Woodstone property—not beneath the mansion. In Season 3, Episode 4, “Halloween 3: The Guest Who Wouldn’t Leave,” the ghosts hope a séance will bring Flower back, but it does not. At the episode’s end, they hear her voice from the well: “I fell down this well, like a month ago, and I can’t get out.” The line was reported by TV Insider.
