What they said about making a marriage work
In the anniversary interview, Brian described marriage as a shared effort. “You have to be a team. You have to access things in life as a team, it can’t be a one-sided thing,” he said. He also recalled advice from the pastor who married them: “He said marriage is not 50/50, it’s 100 and 100, which, I really like that.” These were his reflections on their relationship, not a formula offered as universal guidance.
Leighanne focused on growing together and communicating. “So if you stay together — which we always have and try to grow together — I think that is huge,” she said. She added, “It’s just communication,” and said it came back to being real with one another. Her comments, like Brian’s, describe how she viewed their marriage at the time of the interview.
