To run a nonstop YouTube news ticker playlist, prepare a rights-cleared playlist, use a cloud playout service that can add ticker graphics and send an encoder feed to YouTube Live, then verify the preview and stream health before publishing. YouTube lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos; that listing identifies a relevant service, not an independent test or endorsement.
What you need for a continuous ticker broadcast
- A verified YouTube channel with live streaming enabled and no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before launch.
- A cloud playout service configured for prerecorded videos or playlists, ticker graphics, and an encoder output to YouTube Live. Confirm that its looping, scheduling, reconnect, and rollover features meet your needs; capabilities vary by provider.
- A playlist of segments, headlines, images, logos, and audio that you have the rights to rebroadcast.
- An archive plan if you need saved recordings or stable links to individual broadcasts.
YouTube requires live content to follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Permission to show third-party footage, images, headlines, logos, or audio depends on the applicable rights and license; YouTube’s general guidance does not determine whether a particular license permits a specific rebroadcast.
Set up the playlist, ticker, and YouTube connection
- Enable live streaming in advance. Verify the channel and check that it has no live-streaming restriction within the preceding 90 days. If this is the channel’s first live stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Build and review the playlist. Add the segments in the intended order and configure looping or scheduling in your chosen playout service. Complete a rights review for every video, headline, image, logo, and audio track.
- Create the ticker layout. Add the news text and any other graphics in the cloud playout service. Preview it at mobile and desktop viewing sizes to check legibility and confirm it does not obscure important content. There is no universal ticker layout standard established here, so judge it against your actual viewing experience.
- Create or schedule the YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key into the cloud service’s YouTube encoder destination. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who do not need access.
- Choose a secure ingestion connection. Select RTMPS if the service supports it. RTMPS is RTMP carried over SSL/TLS; YouTube’s developer documentation specifies port 443 and a valid YouTube ingestion endpoint.
- Start a private test and inspect it. Start the cloud output, then check the incoming preview and stream-health indicators in Live Control Room before making the broadcast public. Verify the ticker, picture, audio, playlist transitions, and any schedule changes.
- Test recovery and archiving. Simulate or observe an interruption, confirm the service reconnects as expected, and check how it handles ticker updates and playlist transitions after recovery. If recordings matter, test broadcast rollover and inspect the saved video and watch link before relying on the workflow.
Plan around YouTube’s archive boundary
YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. It also cautions that broadcasts longer than 12 hours may not be saved. That makes a single uninterrupted all-day feed a poor assumption when archives are essential: plan separate broadcasts before reaching the 12-hour boundary, then verify each saved video and link.
Rollover behavior is provider-specific. For example, the playout.video Help Center suggests an 11-hour restart setting for its own 24/7 workflow; that is not a YouTube guarantee and should not be assumed to apply to other services. Test the selected provider’s schedule and archive behavior end to end.

Choose a cloud workflow that fits the newsroom
Compare services against the job you need them to do, rather than assuming that every tool listed for YouTube supports the same production workflow.
- StreamNeo: Keeps uploaded videos or playlists running on YouTube from the cloud, with a flat price per slot for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps and a free first day. It does not provide a ticker feature in the stated product details, so confirm how you will create and include the ticker in your source video or workflow.
- Gyre: YouTube lists it as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded YouTube streaming. The listing does not establish its current prices, reliability, or whether a particular plan provides the ticker controls, rollover, and playlist scheduling you need.
- Other cloud production services: YouTube’s encoder page also lists Grabyo Producer and Upstream.so. Their appearance on that list alone does not establish that they offer automated prerecorded playlist looping and ticker graphics in the configuration you need.
YouTube also lists the AJA HELO Plus hardware encoder and describes its PlayToStream functionality for scheduled prerecorded media to YouTube Live without a computer. It is a hardware alternative, not a cloud playout workflow.
