Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe best cloud-based video recording software depends on what you are making: use Riverside or StreamYard for remote guest recordings, StreamYard for a branded live show, Zoom’s cloud recording for meetings, and Loom for solo screen tutorials. These tools solve different jobs, so compare how they capture and store recordings, what controls they provide, and what editing or publishing you need afterward—not an unsupported claim that one is universally best.
Choose the tool that matches the recording job
“Cloud-based recording” can mean different things. A service may record participants on their own devices and upload files in the background, create a cloud copy of a live session, store a meeting recording, or capture a solo screen walkthrough. Those differences matter: a separate file for each guest gives you more options in editing than a single combined recording, while meeting layouts and storage controls answer a different need from a podcast studio.
| Recording job | Options supported by the vendors’ descriptions | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Remote video podcast or interview | Riverside; StreamYard | Separate participant tracks, local capture and cloud upload, guest access, editing, clips, and publishing |
| Branded live show | StreamYard | Streaming destinations, studio controls, cloud recording, and the current plan’s participant and resolution limits |
| Meeting capture | Zoom cloud recording | Recording layouts and included video, audio, or chat; account, client, and storage requirements |
| Solo screen tutorial or walkthrough | Loom | Screen and camera capture, transcription, editing, sharing, and tier limits |
This is a workflow comparison based on vendor and support documentation, not a measured head-to-head test. The documentation establishes described features, not comparative recording quality, reliability under every network condition, ease of use, or customer satisfaction.
For remote interviews and video podcasts
Riverside: participant recordings with an editing and publishing path
Riverside describes recording participants locally while uploading to the cloud, alongside a text-based editor, clips, and streaming features. Its pricing information lists separate audio and video tracks, as well as editing, publishing destinations, hosting, and automatic cloud backups; the available features vary by plan. See Riverside’s product overview and check its current pricing and plan details before relying on a particular feature.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For an interview workflow, check whether your chosen plan provides the individual tracks you need and whether its editing and publishing tools fit your process. Local recording with cloud upload describes the workflow, but does not guarantee a particular result under every participant’s network or device conditions.
StreamYard: browser-based guest recording with a cloud copy
StreamYard says guests do not need to download an app: participants record separate audio and video files on their devices, those files upload in the background, and a cloud recording is also created. Its recording page describes that process at StreamYard’s recording page.

That combination may suit creators who want separate participant files as well as a cloud recording. Before choosing a plan, confirm the current track, recording, participant, and resolution limits for your intended session.
How to decide between them
- Prioritize separate participant files if you expect to correct individual voices or edit speakers independently.
- Check guest onboarding against the devices and technical comfort of the people you interview.
- Compare the editing, clipping, hosting, and publishing features you will actually use, rather than assuming they are included in every tier.
- Plan for uploads and backups: a cloud copy is useful, but the vendor descriptions do not establish performance under every connection or device condition.
For a branded live show: StreamYard
A live production has different requirements from a recorded interview. StreamYard’s plan page lists cloud recording and, for the displayed Advanced plan, multistreaming to eight destinations and 4K local recordings. These are plan-specific descriptions, not a universal entitlement; review StreamYard’s current pricing page for the plan and limits that apply to you.

For a live show, verify destinations, participant limits, resolution, and whether the recording you need is local, cloud-based, or both.
For meeting capture: Zoom cloud recording
Zoom Support documents cloud recordings that can include meeting video, audio, and chat text, with layouts such as active speaker, gallery view, or shared screen. Storage options are configurable. The supported desktop clients and minimum versions are also relevant, so verify prerequisites for your account and device rather than assuming cloud recording is available in every setup. Loom’s pricing page describes screen recording, video-to-text automation, Zoom import, and a video communication workflow. That makes it a distinct option for walkthroughs and solo instructional content, rather than evidence that it replaces a multi-guest recording studio. Check Loom’s plan details for current feature and tier limits. Loom notes that some feature access differs between subscriptions through Atlassian.com and subscriptions through Loom, so verify the signup route as well as the tier.

Check these details before you commit
- Track structure: Will you receive one mixed recording, separate audio and video files for each participant, or both?
- Capture and backup: Does the described workflow record on participants’ devices, upload files in the background, create a cloud copy, or combine these approaches?
- Guest access: Do guests need an app, account, or particular device? StreamYard says its recording workflow is browser-based and guests do not need a download, but confirm the setup you plan to use.
- Editing and distribution: Check whether the plan you are considering includes the editing, clip creation, hosting, and publishing destinations you need.
- Limits and prerequisites: Confirm plan-specific participant and resolution limits, Zoom client requirements, and available cloud storage.
- Price and signup route: Pricing and features can change. Check the vendor’s live plan page and the subscription route that applies to you before purchasing.
After recording: a separate option for continuous YouTube playback
Recording software captures a new session; StreamNeo serves a different purpose. It keeps a YouTube channel live around the clock by looping videos you upload or a playlist you build. It does not record a camera session or stream to platforms other than YouTube. If your workflow is to record or prepare videos first and then keep them playing as a YouTube live stream, see StreamNeo.
Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo runs the loop in the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. The uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K at 60 fps, at one flat price per slot; the service also describes automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Start a free StreamNeo day.
Quick Recap
Common selection mistakes
- Choosing by the word “cloud” alone: Separate local participant files uploaded in the background are not the same thing as a cloud-only meeting recording. Identify what is recorded, where, and in what form.
- Assuming a feature applies to every tier: Riverside and StreamYard describe plan-dependent features. Check the current plan page for the precise entitlement.
- Treating a feature description as a performance guarantee: Vendor pages describe intended workflows and features; they do not establish reliability or quality under every network condition.
- Buying a studio for a screen walkthrough—or a screen recorder for a guest show: Match the product class to the session and the editing control you need.
- Taking an old price or signup route as current: Promotions and subscription routes can affect what is offered. Verify the checkout details directly.
