Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →To show new YouTube channel memberships on a continuous livestream, enable memberships on an eligible channel, connect an alert provider such as Streamlabs, and put its alert widget in the scene that stays on air. In OBS, add the provider’s widget URL as a Browser Source if you are not using its plugin. Test the alert in the live scene before leaving the stream unattended.
What you need before setup
- YouTube channel memberships enabled, with the channel eligible for the feature. YouTube says memberships or Super Chat must be eligible and turned on before configuring the integration. See YouTube’s integration instructions.
- An alert provider linked to the correct YouTube channel. YouTube’s instructions cover connecting Streamlabs with Google sign-in and setting up widgets and alerts.
- Streaming software with the alert included in the scene being broadcast.
Add a Streamlabs membership alert in OBS
- Confirm memberships are active. Check the channel’s YouTube Studio settings and eligibility before configuring alerts.
- Link the channel. Sign in to Streamlabs with Google and follow its YouTube connection flow. Confirm the intended YouTube account or platform is selected before editing alerts. Streamlabs’ alert setup guide describes configuring alerts and widgets.
- Configure the Members event. Open Alert Box settings and select the YouTube Members alert. Choose the visual, sound, duration and message behavior you want, then save the settings. Streamlabs supports event-specific customization and variations; available controls can depend on the provider’s current interface.
- Add the alert to OBS. Copy the widget URL from Streamlabs and, in OBS, add it as a Browser Source. Set its size and position so the alert appears within the broadcast frame. If you use a Streamlabs plugin, you can instead add the Alert Box through its Widgets panel. OBS does not create alerts itself; it displays third-party overlays through sources such as Browser Source. See OBS’s Browser Source documentation.
- Check layering and visibility. In the Sources list, place the alert above any background or scene element that would cover it. Make sure the source is not hidden and that its dimensions fit the scene.
- Test in the intended scene. Use the provider’s test control or software test widget and watch the result in OBS. Streamlabs documents testing through its dashboard and software in its alert setup guidance. A successful test checks the visual integration; it does not prove every real platform event will always arrive.
Make the alert work in a 24/7 scene
Keep it in every scene where it should appear
The alert source must be present in the scene that stays on air. If your broadcast switches scenes, add or verify the widget in each scene where membership alerts should display; a source in one scene is not automatically visible in another. Test the scene or transition that viewers will actually see.
Avoid unattended manual moderation
Streamlabs says unlimited alert moderation delay requires an operator or moderator to accept events, and unaccepted alerts will not play. That setting is unsuitable for an unattended broadcast unless someone is monitoring and approving alerts. See Streamlabs’ alert troubleshooting guidance.
Retest after changes
The cited setup and troubleshooting guides do not promise uninterrupted delivery across an encoder, network, browser source or provider connection. Treat the overlay as an integration to check: retest after changes to the scene, software, linked account or provider settings, and monitor it as your operation requires.

Choose an alert provider for the event you want
YouTube’s integration page lists StreamElements for in-stream member recognition and live alerts, including membership-level information, and also gives Streamlabs setup instructions. OBS supplies no alert service of its own, so the provider must support the events you need and offer an integration you can add to your software.
- Event support: Confirm the provider supports new channel memberships and, if relevant, gifted memberships.
- Information shown: Check whether the widget can show membership level, gift count or other details you want viewers to see.
- Integration: Look for a plugin or widget URL that can be added as a Browser Source.
- Testing and styling: Check that you can preview and test alerts in the target scene and customize their appearance.
Current provider prices, paid-plan terms and comparative reliability are not established by the cited setup materials, so check each provider’s current terms directly before choosing on those grounds.

Membership alerts are not subscriber alerts
Do not apply subscriber-alert behavior to membership events without confirmation. Streamlabs says subscriber alerts may be delayed up to four hours and may not appear if a subscriber’s privacy setting prevents sharing. Those statements refer to subscriber alerts; they do not establish the same delay or privacy conditions for membership alerts. See Streamlabs’ troubleshooting page.
Gifted membership alerts
Streamlabs’ guidance, updated in September 2025, says its widgets support gifted-membership alerts. It describes defaults that can show the gifter, the number gifted and an alert for each new member, as well as customization such as a single alert or membership-level display. The page also noted that YouTube was making the feature available to a limited group of streamers during rollout. Since availability can change, confirm the option appears in your account and test it before relying on it. See Streamlabs’ gifted membership alert guide.

Troubleshoot an alert that does not appear
- Verify the linked account and theme. Make sure the provider is connected to the intended YouTube channel and the expected widget theme is selected.
- Check the event configuration. Confirm the Members alert and any relevant variations are enabled, then save the settings.
- Inspect the scene. Confirm the Browser Source or Alert Box is visible, correctly layered and present in the scene currently on air.
- Check pauses and moderation. Make sure alerts are not paused or waiting for manual approval.
- Refresh and test again. Refresh the Browser Source or remove and re-add it, then run the provider’s test. Streamlabs’ troubleshooting guidance also recommends reviewing custom HTML/CSS and alert animation settings when diagnosing visual failures.
If the widget URL functions as an account-linked credential, keep it private and follow the provider’s current account guidance; the cited setup instructions do not specify a security policy for that URL.

If your 24/7 YouTube broadcast uses uploaded videos rather than a live camera, StreamNeo can keep that video stream running from the cloud: upload your video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It does not configure or display the membership alert itself; that remains part of your alert provider and broadcast scene setup.
