Start with one to three membership levels, not the maximum. Choose a price from YouTube’s current options for your audience’s country, then make sure each level offers a clear reason to join and perks you can deliver month after month. There is no evidence-backed universal price for an always-on music channel: your audience, costs, and membership results should guide the decision.
How many membership levels should I have?
YouTube allows up to six levels, but its guidance says many creators begin with one to three and add levels as the program grows. More choices are useful only when they represent genuinely different benefits or reasons to support the channel; extra tiers also create more promises to maintain.
For an always-on music channel, a simple starting structure is an accessible support level for viewers who mainly want to back the channel, with another level only if you can offer a meaningful, sustainable distinction. This is a practical application of YouTube’s guidance, not a proven conversion formula. Keep perks worthwhile to members without making a recurring workload that your channel cannot reliably meet.
How much should I charge for YouTube channel memberships?
Use the price menu currently available for the country or region where viewers join. Do not treat the US menu as a global recommendation: YouTube maintains country-specific pricing, and the listed US prices may vary by join date as pricing updates that began rolling out in May 2025 take effect. Check YouTube’s current channel memberships price table and the applicable local options before setting a price.

As verified in YouTube Help in 2026, the US menu lists $0.99 through $9.99 in $1 steps, $14.99 through $49.99 in $5 steps, and $99.99 through $499.99 in $50 steps. These are available US price points, not a recommendation for what a music-channel audience will pay. Other markets have their own options.
Price the recurring promise, not the tier name. YouTube advises creators to weigh the effort and cost of perks against the value viewers perceive in them. Some members may join primarily to support the creator, so an entry level can be simple; higher prices need a reason members can understand and you can continue delivering.

How to set a sustainable price
- Confirm eligibility and market. Check in YouTube Studio that your channel and music content can offer memberships, then consult the current price options for the markets relevant to your audience. Music-channel eligibility can depend on circumstances such as contract status or claims.
- List each perk’s recurring cost. Count the time, production effort, and any recurring expense needed to deliver it. Avoid setting a price around a benefit you cannot provide consistently.
- Build the simplest useful offer. Start with a support-oriented level if that fits your viewers. Add a level only when its benefits differ in a way members will value and your team can sustain.
- Ask viewers what matters. YouTube recommends getting feedback from fans; a post or poll can help establish which proposed benefits feel worthwhile before you commit to delivering them.
- Review results by level and period. In Studio and Analytics, look at active members, members by level, sign-ups, cancellations, revenue, and cancellation feedback. Compare periods and investigate whether changes to the offer correspond with changes in those measures; a short-term fluctuation alone does not prove that a price or perk caused the result.
- Make price changes deliberately. YouTube says creators can adjust price levels for new members once every 12 months from the last update. Existing members retain the price at which they joined, so a tier may have different prices for existing and new members. Explain the offer clearly to prospective members and account for those grandfathered prices when judging its economics.
Music-specific eligibility and perk rules
Some music channels may not qualify for memberships. YouTube’s Creator Academy names channels under an SRAV contract as one example; eligibility depends on the channel’s circumstances, so verify it in YouTube Studio and the applicable YouTube Creator Academy membership guidance before promoting a price.
Do not promise members downloads of content available on YouTube, including music. Check proposed perks against YouTube’s rules and make sure you have the rights and practical ability to deliver anything you offer. A price is only workable if both the channel and its promised benefits are eligible.

What membership revenue share means for your price
YouTube Help says creators receive 70% of membership revenue after applicable taxes and fees are deducted; YouTube currently covers transaction costs. An MCN may take an additional share. This affects what the channel receives, but it does not predict how many viewers will join or what price they will accept.
