Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Add a rights-cleared track or playlist as a separate background-audio source, then use your playout software’s playlist boundaries, cues, or automation to play it only between stories. Keep music independent of narration so you can control it, and listen to the actual outgoing mix to catch overlaps, abrupt changes, or silence. The exact scheduling steps depend on your software; not every streaming app detects episode endings automatically.
1. Choose music you have the right to broadcast
Before adding a track, confirm that its written rights cover your actual use: a continuous YouTube livestream, the territories where viewers may watch, monetization, and any retained archive. Check attribution requirements, duration limits, and whether the rights holder must allowlist your channel in Content ID. The applicable license depends on the composition and sound recording as well as the broadcast and archive.

- Original music or music demonstrably in the public domain may be options, but verify the specific work and recording.
- “Royalty-free” and “free download” do not, by themselves, establish permission for every livestream or archive use.
- YouTube describes safe music as public-domain music or music used with permission, recommends its Audio Library for longer videos, and advises reviewing third-party license terms. See YouTube’s tips to find safe music.
YouTube’s livestream terms say providers represent that they have all necessary rights to exploit live content worldwide, including music licensing rights. This is a platform term, not individualized legal advice; ask the rights holder or a qualified local adviser about a particular license. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.
2. Prepare a separate music bed
Choose a track or playlist that suits the transition between stories. Keep it separate from the episode audio rather than mixing it permanently into each story file. That separation makes it possible to adjust the music level, schedule playback, and troubleshoot it without changing the narration.

Set a level that can be heard without competing with speech. The right balance depends on the recording and playback system, so judge it by listening to the program mix rather than relying on a universal volume number.
3. Add the track in your streaming or playout software
Streamlabs example
Streamlabs documents adding local tracks through its Background Audio feature, with controls for playback, volume, and the queue. Select the local audio tracks you want, then use those controls to start or pause playback, set the level, and inspect the queue. The interface may change, and other applications may use different labels. This workflow does not establish that Streamlabs automatically detects the end of a story and starts music. See Streamlabs’ guide to adding music to a live stream.

Other applications
Look for a background-audio source, media playlist, playout queue, cue, or automation feature in the software you actually use. Confirm that music and narration can be controlled separately. Do not assume a source supports episode-aware scheduling unless its documentation confirms that capability.
4. Schedule music for the gaps
- In the playout system, arrange the story episodes in the intended order.
- Use playlist boundaries, cues, or automation to start the music after one story and stop or fade it before the next begins.
- If the software does not support those triggers, use a workflow you can operate reliably; do not rely on an assumed automatic gap detector.
- Test the transition using the actual episode assets and the selected platform’s preview or a private test route.
Listen through a complete transition. Check that music does not begin under the final narration, continue into the next story, jump suddenly in level, clip, or leave an unintended silent gap. This is a practical verification step, not a guarantee that every application will behave the same way.

5. Check YouTube copyright handling and child-audience settings
Copyright and live interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and a stream may be interrupted or terminated. A license alone does not guarantee uninterrupted transmission: YouTube says creators using licensed third-party music should ask the rights holder to add their channel to its Content ID allowlist. Without allowlisting, a licensed stream may still be interrupted. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and resolve any platform warning with the rights holder.
Claims may also affect an archived stream. Check the rights for both live use and retention of the recording before relying on a track for a 24/7 channel.

Made-for-kids designation
If the stream is directed to children, assess and apply the appropriate made-for-kids setting; the facts here do not determine whether a particular stream legally qualifies. YouTube’s Live Streaming API includes an audience designation, and made-for-kids settings restrict some features, including live chat. Personalized ads are disabled on made-for-kids live streams, although contextual ads may appear. See the LiveBroadcasts API documentation and YouTube’s guidance on avoiding live-stream restrictions.
