For a sequence of local cartoon files, use FFmpeg’s concat demuxer with a formal ffconcat list, then add -stream_loop -1 to the input to request infinite playback. The playlist format controls which files FFmpeg reads; it does not determine how FFmpeg sends the stream to YouTube. Choose the ingest protocol separately.
Make a local FFmpeg playlist with ffconcat
Create a plain-text file named cartoons.ffconcat. Put the exact header on the first line, then add one file directive for each cartoon episode in playback order:

file 'cartoon-episode-03.mp4'Place the list alongside the media files and use relative paths, as in the example. FFmpeg documents the concat demuxer syntax and its safety behavior. With the demuxer’s default safe setting enabled, unsafe paths and directives are rejected; its expected paths are relative and use a portable character set. Avoid disabling that protection for a playlist you did not create or trust.
Ask FFmpeg to repeat the list
Use the list as a concat input and request infinite looping with -stream_loop -1:

ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -f concat -i cartoons.ffconcat ...This is an input fragment, not a complete YouTube command. The ... is not literal command syntax: output mapping, encoding, frame rate, keyframe cadence, audio settings, and the RTMP or HLS endpoint must be selected for the files, FFmpeg build, and YouTube stream configuration. FFmpeg defines -1 as infinite input looping in its stream-loop documentation.
Check the cartoon files before relying on a continuous sequence
The concat demuxer is a reasonable starting point for a straightforward sequence, but a playlist does not make dissimilar files compatible. Check that the episodes have compatible streams, time bases, codecs, and parameters before using them together. Compatibility and transition quality depend on the actual files; seamless transitions cannot be assumed for an unexamined library.

If you need a fixed, pre-rendered program rather than a runtime list, that is a separate workflow decision. Whether combining files in advance performs or behaves better than reading a playlist depends on the media and system; validate the approach with the intended library instead of assuming a performance or reliability advantage.
Choose YouTube’s ingest protocol separately
A local ffconcat file is an input playlist. RTMP and HLS are ways to deliver encoded media to an ingest server. An .m3u8 file may refer to HLS segments, which is a different use of “playlist”: FFmpeg’s HLS muxer creates a playlist and segment files. The extension or playlist format alone does not make an output compliant with YouTube’s live-ingestion requirements.

When YouTube HLS may fit
YouTube describes HLS as useful for HDR or codecs unsupported by RTMP, while noting that HLS has higher latency because it sends video in segments rather than as a continuous RTMP stream. If you select HLS, follow YouTube’s specific requirements: TS segments of 1–4 seconds, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, HTTPS POST/PUT requests, and no byte ranges. YouTube lists H.264 and HEVC video, and AAC, AC3, or EAC3 audio for HLS. See YouTube’s HLS ingestion guidance for the applicable technical details.
For ordinary local cartoon files, treat HLS as a conditional delivery choice, not the default answer to which playlist format to use. If you choose it, verify that the generated live output—not merely a generic VOD .m3u8 setup—meets YouTube’s constraints.

Keep the 24/7 goal distinct from looping
-stream_loop -1 requests that FFmpeg repeat its input indefinitely. It does not manage the FFmpeg process, restart it after a crash, restore an internet connection, or ensure YouTube keeps a broadcast open. A looped playlist is therefore only one part of a continuous livestream setup; process supervision, connectivity, and YouTube’s stream state are separate concerns.
