First identify where you are trying to go live. Streaming a Google Meet meeting to YouTube depends on your Workspace plan, administrator settings and connected YouTube channel. Starting a livestream directly in YouTube Studio or the YouTube app follows YouTube’s channel eligibility and enforcement rules instead. Check the matching path below; changing Workspace settings will not remove a YouTube channel restriction, and changing channels will not fix a Meet permission block.
Identify which livestream is blocked

If the error says an administrator turned streaming off, or the control is missing inside Meet, ask your organization’s Workspace administrator to check the Meet-to-YouTube feature. If YouTube itself says the channel cannot livestream, investigate the channel’s verification and restrictions instead.
If you are streaming a Meet meeting to YouTube
Confirm that your account is eligible
Google lists Meet-to-YouTube livestreaming for Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus; Education Plus and Teaching and Learning Upgrade; Workspace Individual subscribers; and Google One subscribers with at least 2 TB of storage. Check Google’s current Meet livestreaming eligibility guidance, since available editions can change.
Ask the administrator to enable the feature
For eligible Workspace accounts other than Workspace Individual and qualifying Google One subscribers, a Workspace administrator must enable Meet livestreaming to YouTube. If you are a participant rather than an administrator, send them the exact error message and ask them to verify that the feature is enabled for your account or organization. Google’s current user-facing help identifies the administrator requirement but does not provide a verified Admin console navigation path here; do not rely on guessed menu names.

Check the connected YouTube channel
The channel must be approved for livestreaming and connected to the Meet meeting. Google says channel approval can take up to 24 hours. Join Meet on a computer using the same email address used for the connected YouTube channel, then check whether the streaming option is available. See Google’s Meet-to-YouTube instructions.
Set up the event and viewer access
Configure the livestream event before the meeting and have the organizer start the stream. By default, viewing is limited to the organizer’s organization. If people outside that organization need to watch, the administrator must configure access for trusted Workspace domains. See Google Meet Help and Google Workspace administrator guidance.

If you are going live directly from YouTube
Verify the channel and check its status
YouTube’s current livestream guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had a livestream restriction in the preceding 90 days. It also sets the minimum age for livestreaming at 16. Check YouTube’s livestreaming eligibility help and review any notices in YouTube Studio for the affected channel.
Read the enforcement notice; do not switch channels to evade a restriction
YouTube may disable livestreaming for policy or copyright-related reasons. Follow the notice and the channel’s appeal or resolution options. YouTube says a restriction on one channel cannot be evaded by livestreaming through another channel while the restriction remains active. See YouTube’s livestreaming restrictions guidance.

For school accounts, check the age designation
Workspace for Education administrators manage YouTube access. If an account is designated as under 18, access to livestream viewing and creation may be unavailable. Ask the school’s administrator to confirm the account’s age designation and YouTube access settings; a student should not try to work around the restriction with another account. Google’s guidance is available at Workspace for Education YouTube settings.
Troubleshoot by symptom

Keep the diagnosis tied to the actual block
A Workspace administrator can resolve a Meet permission or organizational access issue; they cannot clear a YouTube channel enforcement restriction. Conversely, changing YouTube channel settings does not enable a Meet feature that the organization has disabled. Start with the service showing the error, then involve the authority that controls that setting.
