1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo stream a Wirecast production to YouTube, sign in to YouTube, choose YouTube as Wirecast’s output destination, select an encoder preset, authenticate, and select or create the event. Then start the output and verify the stream in YouTube. The exact menu labels below are from Telestream’s Wirecast 16 Windows guide; check the documentation and controls for your installed version if they differ.
Before you configure the output
Build and check the Wirecast show you intend to send: select the shots and audio sources you need, and confirm that your program is ready to go live. The documented workflow does not require a particular camera, capture device, or audio model. Sign in to the YouTube account you will use in a browser before configuring Wirecast.
Wirecast’s encoder compresses audio and video for broadcast. Its presets provide starting settings, not a universally correct choice: select one appropriate to your desired output and what your computer and network can sustain. Telestream’s Wirecast help resources are the better reference if your release’s interface differs from the Wirecast 16 Windows steps.
Configure Wirecast to stream to a YouTube event
- Open Output Settings. In Wirecast 16 for Windows, open the output settings and choose YouTube as the destination.
- Choose an encoder preset. Select a starting preset that fits the program you are sending and your system/network capacity. The guide does not identify one preset as right for every setup.
- Map input channels if needed. Input-channel mapping is optional in the Wirecast 16 guide. Use it if your production needs a particular input-channel arrangement.
- Create an event if needed. Use the plus control in the event area, enter the event details, and save. If you are using an existing event, proceed to authentication.
- Authenticate and select the event. Complete the YouTube authentication flow, then select the intended event when it appears in Wirecast’s event menu.
- Set a delay only if you need one. Wirecast 16 describes stream delay as a buffer between the Wirecast stream and the broadcast, with a range of 0–999 seconds. A longer delay consumes more memory; it is optional, not a routine recommendation for ordinary live events.
- Start the output and verify it. Use the output controls in your installed Wirecast version. Check the event in YouTube to confirm the incoming stream and program are behaving as expected before relying on it as live.
The guide supports selecting an event and configuring the output, but it does not establish the precise current sequence of controls in YouTube Live Control Room. Follow the labels and status shown by YouTube in your account rather than relying on an assumed current UI path.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choosing the YouTube connection route
The Wirecast 16 guide documents selecting YouTube as the output, authenticating, and choosing an event. Telestream also indexes separate tutorials for YouTube Live Streaming and YouTube RTMP Streaming, but the available tutorial index does not establish current RTMP field names or detailed setup steps. If your installed version offers a YouTube destination, use its documented event flow; do not infer RTMP settings from the tutorial title alone.
Similarly, an older guide for the separate 2012 “Wirecast for YouTube” application is not a guide to current Wirecast behavior or current YouTube account eligibility. Check current YouTube and Telestream documentation for account-specific requirements.

If Wirecast cannot connect or perform reliably
Authentication or connection errors
The Wirecast 16 Windows guide suggests trying “Use Backup Server” when authentication or connectivity errors occur, or when Wirecast attempts to connect and crashes. This setting is release-specific, and the guide attributes the issue to possible unavailability of YouTube’s primary streaming servers. Check whether the option exists in your installed version before following that advice.
High CPU usage or a struggling stream
Telestream’s current Wirecast help page recommends keeping system CPU usage below 70% while streaming and suggests reducing both the Wirecast canvas and output resolution to 1280×720 to lower CPU load. These are vendor recommendations, not a guarantee of performance on every computer, scene, or network. Reduce production load or output demands as appropriate, then observe whether performance improves.
