If your PRISM Live Studio mobile stream keeps stopping, first check whether YouTube still shows the broadcast as live. A platform-ended notice points to a different problem than a PRISM connection error; streams that stop when you switch apps also need an OS-specific check. Use the exact status and error message to choose the next step rather than assuming every interruption has the same cause.
First, find out whether YouTube or PRISM ended the stream
- Check YouTube from another device. If PRISM says the stream has ended, open the channel’s live status separately. PRISM says it considers the broadcast stopped after showing this notice and no longer updates live information such as chat, viewer count, or likes. See PRISM’s Stream Has Ended guide.
- If YouTube also shows that the broadcast ended, look for a platform notice or account restriction before starting again. Resolve any policy or live-streaming-rights issue first.
- If YouTube still shows the broadcast live, the apparent stop may be a PRISM status or connection problem. Note the exact message and error code; the message determines which troubleshooting branch to follow.
Use the displayed error to choose a branch
PRISM lists Android error 4913 and iOS errors 0 / 15 in its “Stream Has Ended” guidance. Its separate connection guide lists Android 5007 and iOS -1001 / -1 when a connection is lost, or has not been established, for more than 10 minutes. These codes are clues, not proof of one specific cause. Match the full displayed message to the relevant ended-stream guide or connection troubleshooting guide.
If the connection is unstable, reduce transmission demands
- Check upload consistency. Test the Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection where you are streaming. A connection that fluctuates or is shared with other people, uploads, or downloads can keep video from reaching YouTube reliably. PRISM notes that a platform may terminate a stream if it receives no video for a period.
- Turn on Adaptive bitrate in PRISM. PRISM recommends this setting for unstable connections. If interruptions continue, lower resolution and frame rate step by step.
- Reduce encoding and app load. Close other apps and, if needed, simplify overlays and effects. PRISM says 720p is typically more stable than 1080p, and 30 fps more stable than 60 fps, under similar conditions. These are relative troubleshooting choices, not guarantees.
PRISM’s stability guide gives example per-second video chunk bandwidth ranges when Adaptive bitrate is off: 1080p, 0.1–4 Mbps or 0.1–6 Mbps; 720p, 0.1–2.5 Mbps or 0.1–4 Mbps; 480p, 0.1–2.0 Mbps; and 360p, 0.1–1.5 Mbps. These are examples in PRISM’s guide, not universal minimum upload speeds. The guide also reports one comparison in which Wi-Fi measured 134.4 Mbps down and 154.2 Mbps up, while LTE measured 89.2 Mbps down and 17.8 Mbps up; that single comparison is not a general Wi-Fi-versus-cellular benchmark. If it stops when you switch apps, check your phone’s OS
Android
PRISM says Android can continue broadcasting in the background after you enable “Allow display over other apps” in the device settings. Check that permission if the stream stops after you leave PRISM or answer a call. Menu wording and location may vary by Android device.

iOS
PRISM’s help guide states: “Due to platform OS policies, iOS apps do not support background live broadcasting.” Keep PRISM in the foreground while streaming on iOS; switching away may interrupt the broadcast. See PRISM’s background-broadcasting guide.
If the phone is hot or the stream lasts a long time
Extended streaming can heat a phone. PRISM says heat can impair video processing and, in severe cases, contribute to platform termination. Reduce app load and follow the device’s care guidance; PRISM’s stability tips suggest temporarily removing the phone case to help reduce heat. A cooling accessory is not an established requirement.

Duration alone does not mean a YouTube stream has hit a general time limit. PRISM’s help page says YouTube has no maximum live-stream duration. It separately notes that auto-archiving applies only to live videos under 12 hours and that streams longer than 12 hours may not be archived. That is an archive caveat, not a stated cap on going live. See PRISM’s guide to platform-terminated streams.
If the stream will not connect at all
PRISM lists incorrect or nonexistent RTMP address details, an app-to-platform connection issue, and restrictions on live-streaming rights as possible causes when a connection never establishes. If you entered a custom RTMP destination, check the stream URL and key carefully, but do not share or publish the key. If YouTube indicates an account or rights restriction, check YouTube’s live-streaming controls and resolve that issue before retrying.

Quick troubleshooting checklist
- Check YouTube’s live status from another device and note whether it says live or ended.
- Record PRISM’s exact message and error code; use the matching PRISM help guide.
- Enable Adaptive bitrate, then reduce resolution or frame rate if the connection remains unstable.
- On Android, check “Allow display over other apps”; on iOS, keep PRISM foregrounded.
- If the phone is hot, reduce its workload and follow PRISM’s overheating guidance.
- If using RTMP, verify the destination URL and key privately; check YouTube for rights or account restrictions.
