To send viewers from one YouTube livestream to another, set a Live Redirect on the source stream in YouTube Studio before it ends: open Content > Live, edit the stream, choose Customization > Redirect > Add, and select an eligible destination. The sending channel needs more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. The destination channel must allow redirects from you.
Set up the redirect in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, open Content and select the Live tab.
- Find the livestream that will end first, hover over it, and click Edit.
- Open Customization.
- Under Redirect, click Add.
- Choose a Premiere or search for another channel’s eligible livestream, then select it as the destination.
- When you end the source stream, confirm the redirect if YouTube Studio asks you to.
You can configure a Premiere as the source using the same general route: find it under Content > Live, edit it, then use Customization > Redirect > Add to choose the destination. YouTube Help documents the current setup steps in its Live Redirect instructions.
Check eligibility and destination permissions
Requirements for the sending channel
YouTube Help says the channel sending viewers must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. These conditions apply to the channel setting up the redirect, not the receiving channel.
Controls on the receiving channel
The destination creator controls which channels can redirect viewers to them. YouTube documents three options in channel settings under YouTube Studio > Settings > Community:

- Allow redirects from channels the recipient subscribes to. YouTube says this is the default unless subscriptions are private.
- Allow redirects from all channels.
- Allow only specifically approved channels; the manual list can include up to 100 channels.
The receiving channel can be any size, but its permission settings must include the sending channel. TeamYouTube’s May 3, 2022 announcement says the selection list can include active and upcoming livestreams and upcoming Premieres when permission conditions are met.
If the intended destination does not appear, check that it has an active or upcoming livestream or Premiere and that its redirect permissions allow your channel. The supported destinations documented by YouTube are eligible livestreams and Premieres, not arbitrary external URLs.

Choose the right destination and prepare viewers

YouTube says autoplay moves viewers to the selected destination when the source livestream or Premiere ends. Tell viewers in advance that the screen will reload and ask them to wait briefly. YouTube’s live settings guidance suggests an approximate two-second pause; treat that as practical guidance, not a guaranteed transition time. Viewers who have autoplay turned off need to click play at the destination.
YouTube Help’s Live Redirect guidance covers eligibility, setup, permissions, and what viewers experience. Menu labels and rules can change, so check YouTube Studio if your interface differs.

Troubleshooting a missing destination or failed handoff
- The destination is not in the list: Confirm it has an active or upcoming livestream or Premiere, then ask its creator to check the redirect permissions under Settings > Community.
- The sending channel cannot add a redirect: Check that it has more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
- Some viewers remain on the source page: Viewers with autoplay disabled must click play themselves. Announce the destination before ending and allow time for the screen to reload.
- The redirect was not applied when the source ended: If Studio presents a confirmation, confirm the redirect while ending the source stream.
