Short answer: IBM Video Streaming supports live broadcasts that IBM says can run 24 hours a day or longer—but the available IBM documentation does not establish that IBM sends a stream to YouTube or provides a native IBM-to-YouTube simulcast. IBM is primarily a platform for hosting and delivering video to viewers through IBM channels, embedded players, and related tools. If your goal is a continuous YouTube broadcast, do not assume an IBM subscription alone will put your video on YouTube.
What IBM Video Streaming does
IBM Video Streaming is a hosted platform for live and on-demand video. It offers public or password-protected channels, embedded playback, branded channel pages and portals, APIs, and tools for managing and distributing video. IBM also lists simulated live, auto-archive, video on demand (VOD), captions, search, analytics, chat, and Q&A among its capabilities. Feature availability can depend on the plan.
That makes IBM a potential fit for organizations that want to host video in their own channel or portal, manage access, and integrate video workflows. It is a different question from sending a continuous program to YouTube, where YouTube is the viewing destination.
Can IBM Video Streaming stream to YouTube 24/7?
IBM says its platform supports simultaneous live streams to multiple IBM channels for 24 hours a day or longer. That is a vendor description of a supported use case; it is not independent evidence of uninterrupted uptime for a particular setup. The reviewed IBM materials do not verify an IBM-to-YouTube forwarding or simulcast workflow.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
IBM’s encoder documentation describes the inbound connection: a broadcaster can use a non-IBM encoder to send a feed into an IBM channel using the channel’s ingest point and channel key or temporary streaming key. That explains how video gets into IBM; it does not establish how IBM would forward that feed to YouTube. The developer documentation may return RTMP and RTMPS endpoints. Treat any workflow that publishes to both IBM and YouTube as a separate routing question, and verify the encoder’s current simultaneous-output capabilities and each destination’s ingest requirements before relying on it.
In short, IBM markets continuous streaming to its platform, but the materials reviewed do not show that purchasing IBM by itself creates a 24/7 YouTube broadcast or guarantees an uninterrupted stream. IBM’s reliability and scale statements are product claims, not independent uptime findings for this specific setup.

What YouTube requires for a continuous live stream
Before planning the YouTube side, check YouTube’s current rules. Its live-streaming help says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube also lists a minimum streamer age of 16 and requires streamed content to comply with its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.
- Capacity limits: YouTube lists limits of 10 active streams per channel and three active streams per stream key; both limits apply.
- Rights and policies: You remain responsible for the rights to the video, audio, and other material you broadcast, and for complying with YouTube’s rules.
- Keep keys private: A stream key is a credential for sending a broadcast. Do not publish it, share it in screenshots, or include it in public documentation.
These are YouTube requirements, not features supplied by IBM. Confirm the current YouTube help page before setting up a long-running broadcast, since platform rules can change.

IBM Video Streaming pricing and plan allowances
IBM’s US pricing page listed the following starting monthly prices and standard allowances when checked on October 3, 2026. These are vendor-published figures, not a tailored quote; confirm current prices, taxes, terms, and any overages with IBM before buying.
| Plan | Starting price (US) | Included viewer hours | Channels | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Silver | $154.00/month | 100 | 5 | 1 TB |
| Gold | $773.00/month | 2,000 | 10 | 2 TB |
| Platinum | $1,550.00/month | 5,000 | 20 | 5 TB |
| Custom | Contact IBM | Custom | Custom | Not stated on the listed pricing summary |
IBM’s listed pricing page also offered a 30-day trial at the time checked. Viewer hours matter for continuous broadcasts: estimate expected audience viewing, not only the hours your encoder is running, and check how IBM counts usage and handles amounts beyond the included allowance. The public plan figures do not establish the cost of any separate encoder, production service, or YouTube-routing arrangement you may need.

| Enterprise Platinum | $5,620/month |

Is IBM Video Streaming good for continuous streaming?
It may suit a continuous broadcast that is intended to be hosted and delivered through IBM, especially when the organization needs access controls, embedded playback, a branded portal, APIs, archives, or viewer analytics. IBM documents continuous operation as a platform use case, but that claim should not be mistaken for a guarantee that a stream will never be interrupted.
For a YouTube-first channel, the central unresolved issue is destination routing: the available IBM documentation explains encoder-to-IBM ingest but does not verify IBM-to-YouTube delivery. Before committing, get confirmation for the exact architecture you intend to use, including whether a separate encoder or production service must send to YouTube, how simultaneous outputs work, and what happens if either service or the source feed fails.
Check these decision points before buying
- Destination: Is the audience watching an IBM channel or a YouTube channel, or do you have a verified workflow for both?
- Viewer usage: How many viewer hours are included in the plan, and how will expected continuous viewing affect usage and cost?
- Channel and storage needs: Do the allowance and channel count match your archive, VOD, and broadcast requirements?
- Access and integration: Do you need password protection, custom viewer authentication, website embed restrictions, user-level tracking, or APIs?
- Operations: Which system encodes and routes the feed, and who is responsible for monitoring and recovery?
Or let it run in the cloud
