One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchTo move a prerecorded YouTube loop off OBS, switch from sending video with an encoder on your computer to a cloud service that plays uploaded videos and sends the broadcast for you. Upload the loop, connect the service to the correct YouTube channel, set the broadcast details and schedule it. Prepare and check the new broadcast before stopping OBS; do not assume the handoff will be interruption-free.
If your OBS stream is a live production—with a camera, real-time overlays or other inputs—an uploaded-video service may not reproduce it. In that case, keep OBS as the encoder unless the cloud provider explicitly supports the production features you need.
Choose the workflow that matches your stream
There are two different ways to use YouTube Live. In the first, OBS remains the encoder: it sends your live scene to YouTube using a server URL and stream key. In the second, a cloud service plays prerecorded files and sends the stream, so OBS is not needed for that playback workflow.
| Workflow | What sends the video to YouTube | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| OBS encoder | OBS running on your computer | A live production assembled from cameras, real-time overlays, or other inputs |
| Hosted prerecorded stream | The cloud service’s player and streaming system | A rendered video, repeating loop, or playlist that does not depend on live inputs |
YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming. Its documented connection uses the stream URL and key from Live Control Room. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Prepare before moving the loop
- Confirm live-stream access. YouTube requires channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- Identify what OBS is doing. If it only plays a rendered file or playlist, a hosted prerecorded workflow may fit. If the scene includes a live camera, real-time graphics, or interactive transitions, check that the service can reproduce them before switching.
- Check rights and platform rules. Confirm that you have permission to broadcast every video and audio track. YouTube says live streams must follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service; see the encoder help page.
- Note the existing broadcast details. Record the title, description, visibility, thumbnail, and intended start time so you can configure the hosted broadcast consistently.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to the associated encoder endpoint. Do not expose it in screenshots, documentation, or public chat.
Option 1: Keep OBS as the YouTube encoder
This does not move playback to the cloud. It is the right workflow if OBS must continue combining live inputs or if you are not ready to replace its production setup.
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live to create a stream, or open Manage → Schedule Stream to set up a planned event. YouTube’s encoder instructions cover the Live Control Room flow.
- In OBS, open the streaming settings. Select YouTube if it is offered, or enter YouTube’s stream URL as the server and paste the stream key into the key field. Get both values from the relevant YouTube Live Control Room stream.
- Start streaming from OBS. For a scheduled event, wait for the preview in Live Control Room, then select Go live when the broadcast is ready.
- To end the encoder feed, stop streaming in OBS. YouTube’s instructions also describe ending a scheduled broadcast in Live Control Room.
Google’s Live Streaming API encoder guide describes the single-encoder case in which a channel owner configures an encoder once. That setup still depends on the encoder sending the feed; it does not make a computer-based OBS loop run after the computer is off.

Option 2: Move prerecorded playback to a cloud service
For a hosted loop, the service selects and plays the media, then sends the broadcast to YouTube. The documented OneStream Live workflow is to create a 24-hour stream, add videos from a device, its library, or cloud storage such as Google Drive or Dropbox, select a YouTube channel, enter stream details, choose a start time and duration, and schedule the broadcast. Its help page says the 24/7 feature is YouTube-only, requires Enterprise, and allows a maximum duration of 30 days. Verify current plan availability and limits with OneStream Live’s 24/7 streaming instructions before relying on it.
- Choose a hosted service that explicitly supports prerecorded YouTube streams and the duration you need.
- Upload or select the rendered loop or playlist in the provider dashboard. Check that the files and playback order are correct.
- Connect the intended YouTube channel and create the broadcast details there or in the provider’s dashboard, as its instructions require.
- Set the schedule and duration, then inspect the destination channel and broadcast details before the start.
- Once the hosted broadcast is ready to start, stop the old OBS feed. A handoff involves two separate workflows; do not promise uninterrupted switching unless the provider specifically documents support for it.
Check long-run archives and recovery behavior
YouTube’s current help text says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement is not a guarantee that one continuous stream longer than 12 hours will be saved as a single video. Before choosing a 24/7 workflow, ask the provider how it handles long-run recording and any YouTube archive segmentation. See YouTube’s encoder and live-stream help.

Also confirm how the service reports stream health, resumes after a YouTube or provider interruption, retains uploaded files, and lets you restart or end a run. The cited OneStream instructions establish its setup path and stated duration limit, but do not establish those outage, retention, or archive-splitting details.

Common migration problems
- The channel cannot start a live stream: verify the channel and check for restrictions; first-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
- The hosted stream shows the wrong content: confirm the selected file or playlist, playback order, connected YouTube channel, and scheduled broadcast details in the provider dashboard.
- The cloud workflow cannot reproduce the OBS scene: prerecorded playback is not the same as a live camera or real-time production. Keep OBS as the encoder or choose a service that explicitly supports those inputs.
- The stream key was exposed: treat it as compromised and replace or reset it in YouTube’s Live Control Room, then update any encoder or service that uses it.
- A very long stream has no single archive: YouTube’s stated automatic-archive rule applies to streams under 12 hours. Check provider handling of longer runs and segments before scheduling.
