Schedule each YouTube event in YouTube Studio, then configure your encoder to send a separate RTMP output to each intended destination. In YouTube Studio, go to Create > Go Live > Manage > Schedule stream. YouTube’s scheduling tools handle the event and its watch page; whether you can send multiple simultaneous RTMP outputs depends on the encoder you choose, so verify its current documentation before the broadcast.
What scheduling does—and what multiple RTMP outputs require
A scheduled YouTube livestream is an upcoming event viewers can find and share before airtime. Viewers can opt into reminders, and you can promote the event using its watch page and shareable URL. YouTube describes scheduling as a way to promote a stream (YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder).
Scheduling does not itself configure multiple destinations. The encoder must support the number of concurrent RTMP outputs you need, and each output must be mapped to the correct destination and scheduled event. YouTube’s general encoder guidance does not certify particular third-party encoders or their multi-output limits; check the documentation for your chosen product before relying on it.
Schedule the YouTube event
- In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live, then open Manage.
- Select Schedule stream. Reuse settings from a previous event or create a new stream.
- Set the event details and metadata. Once scheduled, use the upcoming watch page and shareable URL to promote it; viewers can choose to receive reminders.
- Copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key for the scheduled event. Enter them in the encoder’s YouTube output settings. Treat the key as a credential: if it is exposed, an owner or manager can reset it in Live Control Room, after which the encoder must be updated.
Configure the encoder’s multiple RTMP outputs
- Check the encoder’s current documentation for its simultaneous RTMP output limit and supported destination types. Do not assume that a feature described as “streaming” or “multi-platform” includes the number or type of outputs your event needs.
- Create one output for each destination. For the YouTube destination, use the scheduled event’s stream URL and key. Confirm every output is assigned to the intended destination and event.
- Save the configuration and verify the encoder shows each output as connected or ready before airtime. YouTube’s guidance covers connecting an encoder to YouTube, but does not validate third-party multi-output configurations (YouTube Help).
Software encoding can suit a setup built around a computer and compatible software. YouTube also recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events. Hardware is optional, and output capability must be checked for the specific encoder and model; YouTube’s general guidance does not compare brands or certify particular multi-output devices (YouTube Help: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions).

Test and start the scheduled stream
YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes beforehand. These are operational lead-time recommendations, not guarantees of connection or stream quality.
- Start the encoder outputs early enough to test the connection and confirm that the intended YouTube event receives the feed.
- In Live Control Room, inspect the preview. Check picture and audio, then monitor stream health before the event begins.
- At airtime, start sending from the encoder if it is not already running. Wait for the preview in Live Control Room, then select Go live.
- After the broadcast, note that YouTube automatically archives streams that are under 12 hours.
Troubleshoot before viewers arrive
- The scheduled event has no preview: Check that the encoder is sending to the stream URL and key for that event, and that the correct output is enabled.
- The key no longer works: If it was reset in Live Control Room, replace the saved key in the encoder and reconnect.
- Only one destination receives the feed: Check the encoder’s documented concurrent-output limits, whether each output is enabled, and whether each has the correct destination settings. YouTube does not certify third-party multi-output support.
- Picture or audio problems appear in preview: Test the source and encoder output before going live, then monitor stream health. YouTube’s preparation guidance recommends checking the preview and stream status before the event (YouTube Help).
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep a YouTube channel live with uploaded recordings rather than broadcast a live camera or production, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a recording or make a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It streams uploaded videos to YouTube only.
