Choose between a gameplay replay and actual live gameplay
These are different workflows, even though both appear as live broadcasts on YouTube:
- Prerecorded gameplay: YouTube receives a continuous stream made from existing video files. A cloud service can play a video or playlist and keep the broadcast running without a local PC. This is the straightforward option for unattended 24/7 programming.
- Live gameplay: A computer must run the game and capture its live output. In a cloud setup, that means provisioning a cloud gaming machine able to run the game and an encoder, or using another live capture source. YouTube’s encoder setup supports gameplay streaming, but its documentation does not specify a recommended cloud gaming machine configuration for India.
YouTube’s encoder directory lists Gyre as a cloud tool for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming and Upstream as a browser-based 24/7 live-streaming studio. A directory listing does not establish a provider’s current availability in India or confirm suitability for every game. Check those details directly before choosing a service.
Prepare your YouTube channel
- Verify the channel. YouTube requires a verified channel for live streaming.
- Check live-streaming eligibility. The channel must not have had a live-stream restriction in the past 90 days. YouTube’s general live-stream guide says streamers must be at least 16.
- Enable live streaming early. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Do this before you plan to start the broadcast.

Set up a continuous stream of prerecorded gameplay
- Choose a cloud service that supports YouTube and continuous prerecorded playout. Confirm it accepts your video formats, can loop a playlist, and has the restart and alerting behavior you need. Do not assume a listing or “24/7” description guarantees uninterrupted service.
- Prepare your video library. Use gameplay recordings you have the right to broadcast. Decide the playlist order and whether the content should repeat. Check the service’s file-size and storage limits before uploading.
- Create or select a YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule the stream. Follow YouTube’s current setup flow for the intended broadcast.
- Connect the service to YouTube. Copy the server URL and stream key shown for the broadcast into the service’s YouTube connection settings. Treat the stream key like a password: do not share it or include it in a public screenshot. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the service.
- Set output and test. Choose an output resolution and frame rate that suit the uploaded source. Test representative motion and audio, start the stream, and check YouTube’s stream-health indicators before leaving it unattended.
- Plan for oversight. Arrange someone to review alerts, moderate chat if it is enabled, and respond if the stream stops or receives a policy restriction. Confirm the provider’s recovery, notification, and restart behavior rather than assuming it.
Stream live gameplay from a cloud machine
This route is for a game that must actually be running and producing live footage. A cloud playout service that only loops uploaded files is not a substitute for a cloud gaming machine.
- Provision a suitable cloud machine. It must be capable of running the specific game and capturing its output while also encoding and uploading the stream. The reviewed YouTube guidance does not prescribe a particular cloud provider, India region, GPU, or machine size; estimate requirements from the game and test the configuration before committing to continuous use.
- Install and configure a compatible encoder. Select the game or display as the video source, configure audio, and set the output codec, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframe interval using YouTube’s recommendations below.
- Create the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule a broadcast and retrieve its server URL and stream key.
- Enter the connection details in the encoder. Use the YouTube server URL and private stream key. Use RTMPS where supported so the connection is encrypted.
- Test, start, and monitor. Check motion, audio, and stream health before treating the setup as unattended. Configure machine and encoder restart procedures, and arrange alerts and human moderation.
A cloud machine adds responsibilities that a prerecorded-video service does not: the game must remain running, the machine must have enough resources to render and encode, and failures may require troubleshooting or restart. Cloud provider costs also depend on the selected machine and usage; YouTube’s encoder setup guidance does not supply a recommended India-specific machine configuration.

Use YouTube’s recommended encoder settings
YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR), up to 60 frames per second, and a two-second keyframe interval; do not set the interval above four seconds. Its bitrate recommendations vary by resolution and codec:

These are YouTube recommendations, not guaranteed requirements or measured results for a particular cloud connection. Check rights and YouTube policy before looping gameplay
A live stream must comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. YouTube can remove or age-restrict a stream and can restrict live-streaming access. A game being playable or a recording being yours does not, by itself, establish permission to broadcast every game image, soundtrack, or other included material.
- Check the game publisher’s streaming and monetization terms for the title you plan to show.
- Check rights for music, overlays, cutscenes, and other third-party material in the recording. Replace or remove material you are not permitted to broadcast.
- Do not assume that repeating gameplay footage will qualify for monetization. YouTube’s reused-content and monetization decisions are separate from whether a stream can technically be started.
- Review YouTube’s current Community Guidelines and applicable terms, and check the copyright safety checklist before scheduling a long-running broadcast.

Troubleshoot common failures
- YouTube will not let the channel go live: Check channel verification, live-stream eligibility, and whether first-time activation is still pending. Activation can take up to 24 hours.
- The encoder or cloud service will not connect: Confirm the correct broadcast’s server URL and stream key, check for accidental whitespace, and make sure the key has not been replaced. Keep the key private.
- The broadcast starts but looks unstable: Compare the chosen bitrate with YouTube’s recommendations and the actual upload capacity available to the encoder. Test a lower output resolution or frame rate if the connection cannot sustain the selected settings.
- Audio or fast-motion gameplay is missing or poor: Test the actual game audio and representative motion before launch. Verify the encoder’s selected audio and video sources and review YouTube’s stream-health feedback.
- A 24/7 loop stops unexpectedly: Check provider alerts and recovery behavior, then inspect YouTube stream health and the service’s connection status. Recovery is not an uptime guarantee; have a restart and human escalation plan.
- Content is blocked, removed, or restricted: Review YouTube’s notice and identify the specific gameplay, soundtrack, or other material involved. Check publisher terms and rights, and do not restart the same material without addressing the policy or rights issue.
