Switchboard Live Alternatives for 24/7 YouTube Streaming

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For an unattended YouTube channel that loops prerecorded video, StreamNeo is the clearest fit: it runs uploaded videos from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and includes a free first day. Among the other options in the reviewed sources, Gyre and Upstream are the closest matches for continuous cloud streaming. If by “24/7” you mean relaying a live camera or production feed to multiple platforms, Switchboard, Restream, and StreamYard address different parts of that workflow instead.

First decide what “24/7 streaming” means for your channel

There are two substantially different jobs behind the phrase. One is unattended playback: upload prerecorded programs or a playlist and keep them going as a YouTube livestream. The other is keeping a live encoder feed—such as a camera or produced show—online and distributing it to YouTube or other destinations. A service suited to one job may not handle the other.

  • Prerecorded loop: prioritize cloud playback, playlists, automatic recovery, and clear handling of long-running broadcasts.
  • Live production or relay: prioritize encoder input, destination count, scheduling, guests or overlays, and the way recordings are stored.

The services below are described by their own pages or by YouTube’s encoder-tools listing; this is a capability comparison, not a hands-on reliability or audience-growth test.

Switchboard Live’s role—and what it does not replace

Switchboard presents itself as a multistream distribution platform, with features on its pricing page including unlimited destinations, automatic destination start and stop, scheduling, SRT input, and archive features. Its enterprise tier is listed with “24/7 Streams”; because plan features can change, check the current plan page for the tier and setup that apply to you: Switchboard pricing and features.

Switchboard’s FAQ says users need an encoder such as OBS, social destinations, and a steady internet connection, and that Switchboard does not store prerecorded videos. In other words, it is not itself the uploaded-video library and unattended loop described by a dedicated cloud playback service. The FAQ also says comments are not aggregated, so operators need to monitor destination platforms separately. Its stated maximum of 30 destinations per workflow and other implementation details come from an FAQ last updated about 11 months before access; confirm current behavior before building a workflow around those limits: Switchboard FAQ.

Alternatives for continuous YouTube streaming

1. StreamNeo: cloud playback of uploaded videos

StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for keeping a channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or create a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; StreamNeo loops the video from the cloud, so your computer and home internet connection do not need to stay on. It is the strongest fit here for unattended prerecorded playback: any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with a free first day and no card required.

2. Gyre: a dedicated prerecorded-video candidate

YouTube’s encoder-tools page describes Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming. Gyre’s own site likewise says it is designed for 24/7 prerecorded streams. That makes it a direct candidate if your central requirement is continuous uploaded-video playback rather than a live studio. Gyre also claims that YouTube allows continuous live streams without a fixed duration limit; treat that as Gyre’s characterization, not an independently verified blanket YouTube rule. Check the current product details at Gyre and YouTube’s encoder-tools listing.

3. Upstream: a cloud studio for continuous live video

YouTube’s encoder-tools listing describes Upstream as a cloud studio for easy 24/7 live video streaming with YouTube integration. The reviewed listing supports considering it for a cloud-based continuous workflow, but does not establish specific prices or enough feature detail for a plan-by-plan comparison. Confirm whether its current workflow matches prerecorded playlists, live inputs, or both before choosing it.

4. Restream: multichannel distribution and prerecorded publishing

Restream documents streaming to 30+ social channels, custom RTMP, and a prerecorded Upload & Stream feature. Those capabilities make it relevant when destination distribution or prerecorded publishing matters. The reviewed feature page does not establish that Upload & Stream provides unattended, infinite 24/7 looping, so do not assume it is a continuous-playback replacement without checking the current details: Restream pricing and features.

5. StreamYard: hosted live production rather than a dedicated loop

StreamYard’s paid plans list multistreaming and prerecorded streams, making it a potential fit for hosted shows and browser-based production. Its paid-plan YouTube broadcast duration and its recording capacity are separate matters: StreamYard says there is no StreamYard-side duration limit for YouTube broadcasts on paid plans, while the related support page says only the last 12 hours of a YouTube stream are recorded in the stated context. That recording detail is not a promise of unlimited archive retention. Check current plan and support details at StreamYard pricing and StreamYard’s broadcast and recording limits page.

How the options differ by workflow

Option Best-supported use in the reviewed sources Important distinction
StreamNeo Cloud looping of uploaded videos to YouTube Any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot; computer can be off.
Gyre Cloud 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming Its continuous-duration statement is a Gyre claim, not a separately verified YouTube rule.
Upstream Cloud studio for 24/7 live video streaming with YouTube integration Specific pricing and feature-by-feature details are not established by the reviewed listing.
Switchboard Live Encoder-based multistream distribution Its FAQ says users supply an encoder and that it does not store prerecorded videos.
Restream Multichannel distribution, custom RTMP, prerecorded Upload & Stream The reviewed page does not establish unattended infinite looping.
StreamYard Browser-based hosted production, multistreaming, prerecorded streams on paid plans Broadcast duration and recording/retention limits are separate.

Use these distinctions to narrow the choice rather than treating every “live” feature as equivalent:

  • Playback versus relay: for an uploaded-video loop, choose a service that explicitly describes continuous prerecorded playback. For an encoder feed distributed to several platforms, evaluate Switchboard or a multistreaming alternative.
  • Destinations and inputs: if you need custom RTMP or many destinations, verify the current plan limits and whether a local encoder is required. Switchboard’s FAQ states a 30-destination workflow maximum, but that FAQ was last updated about 11 months before access.
  • Scheduling and recovery: check whether start/stop scheduling and recovery after a dropped connection are included in the precise workflow and plan you will use; do not infer these from a generic “live” label.
  • Production controls: guests, overlays, and a browser studio are useful for hosted programming but do not by themselves establish always-on prerecorded playback.
  • Archives: distinguish the ability to keep a broadcast live from the ability to record, retain, or retrieve the whole broadcast afterward.

YouTube rules still apply to continuous streams

YouTube says livestreams must comply with its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service and reserves the ability to restrict livestreaming. A third-party streaming service does not ensure that content is compliant, monetized, or recommended. Review YouTube’s livestream basics and policy guidance before scheduling continuous programming.

For documentary channels in particular, check that you have the rights needed for every film, excerpt, soundtrack, and image in the loop. Repeating content does not remove copyright or platform-policy obligations; use YouTube’s guidance and the relevant rights holders’ terms to assess your specific material.

Choose by the job you need done

  • Choose StreamNeo when the goal is to keep uploaded documentaries or a playlist running on YouTube without leaving a PC or home connection on.
  • Compare Gyre and Upstream when you want another cloud-based continuous-streaming candidate; verify current input types, workflow, and pricing directly because the cited listing does not settle those details.
  • Keep Switchboard in the mix when you already have an encoder feed and need multistream distribution, scheduling, or the listed destination features.
  • Consider Restream for documented multichannel distribution or prerecorded publishing, but confirm looping behavior if 24/7 unattended playback is essential.
  • Consider StreamYard for hosted, browser-based live production, while checking broadcast duration separately from recording and archive limits.

Or let it run in the cloud

With StreamNeo, upload your video or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded video streams at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card; after that, the monthly option is $9.99 per month. Start your free StreamNeo day.
