The service appeared in the principal drama, comedy, acting, directing and writing races—but “all major categories” is shorthand, not a literal sweep of every top program field.

Apple’s 81 is a platform-wide figure covering the broader Emmy program. The individual show totals count each program’s nominations across categories, so those numbers should not be added together or treated as a list of only the principal Primetime races. Severance was Apple’s drama powerhouse
Severance’s 27 nominations made it the year’s leading drama program by nomination count. Its strength was unusually broad: the series reached Outstanding Drama Series, both principal drama lead-acting races, four supporting-acting races, directing and writing.

That spread matters more than a single marquee slot: the show was represented by its ensemble, creative leadership and craft departments. The Academy’s series page provides the program record.
The Studio changed Apple’s comedy profile
The Studio produced 23 nominations, tying the record for the most nominations received by a comedy series in one Emmy year. It was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, while Seth Rogen appeared in lead acting, writing and directing contention. Ensemble and craft nominations made the total a broad freshman-comedy showing rather than a single-star result.

The later achievement is a different record. At the 77th Emmy Awards, The Studio won Outstanding Comedy Series, and Apple described it as the most-winning freshman comedy in Emmy history, with 13 wins overall. The supporting slate made the result broader
Slow Horses and Shrinking
Slow Horses added five nominations and joined Severance in the Outstanding Drama Series field. Shrinking received seven nominations and joined The Studio in Outstanding Comedy Series. Their presence showed that Apple’s result was not entirely dependent on one title in each genre.

Limited-series acting without a top-series nomination
Apple’s strongest limited-series presence came through individual performances: Cate Blanchett for Disclaimer, Jake Gyllenhaal for Presumed Innocent and Brian Tyree Henry for Dope Thief. That is substantial acting recognition, but it should not be described as an Apple nomination for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series; the service had no nominee in that top program category.
Other Apple projects
The full 81-nomination total also included recognition for Apple projects and creators beyond the principal table, including The Gorge. The platform total therefore measures a wider awards footprint than the handful of headline series categories.

What “all major categories” really means
For this result, the defensible meaning is that Apple TV+ reached the principal drama, comedy, acting, directing and writing races. It does not mean Apple had a nominee in every top series category, every lead-acting field or every Emmy discipline. The absence of an Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series nominee is the clearest qualification.
Nor does the nomination count prove subscriber growth or overall Emmy dominance. It shows concentrated awards strength, especially in two programs: Severance supplied prestige-drama breadth, while The Studio supplied a breakout comedy campaign. Slow Horses, Shrinking and the limited-series acting nominees provided additional depth.

What the 2025 results mean for viewers
Apple’s strategy was visible in the pattern of nominations: invest heavily in a small number of distinctive originals, then build visibility through acting ensembles, directing, writing and craft categories. That approach can produce a large awards footprint without implying that Apple has the broadest catalog or the most nominees in every field.
Viewers who want the nominated Apple originals can check availability and current U.S. pricing directly at Apple TV+. A bundle may be relevant for people who already use Apple Music, iCloud+ or Apple Arcade; compare current terms at Apple One. Apple hardware is not required, and supported devices vary by country and operating system; consult the Apple TV app page before signing up.
The Bottom Line
Apple TV+ had a major 2025 Emmy presence, led by Severance’s 27 nominations and The Studio’s record-tying 23. Its reach covered the key drama, comedy, acting, directing and writing races, but not every top program category; after the ceremony, The Studio converted that nomination strength into the Outstanding Comedy Series win.
