Watch the official F1 The Movie trailer
The official trailer from Apple Original Films introduces Sonny Hayes, a gifted driver whose career was derailed by a serious crash. Years later, he is asked to return and help save the struggling APXGP team. The trailer combines cockpit footage, crashes, pit-wall strategy, rivalries and the pressure of a modern Formula 1 season.
Hayes is also expected to mentor APXGP’s younger driver, Joshua Pearce. Their relationship creates the film’s central tension: an experienced driver seeking redemption has to work with a newcomer determined to prove himself.
Apple’s trailer announcement identifies the video as part of the film’s 2025 launch campaign. The link above is the official trailer rather than an unofficial reupload or full-film upload.

What is the movie about?
F1 The Movie follows Sonny Hayes after a long absence from elite racing. His former teammate, Ruben Cervantes, recruits him to help rescue APXGP, a fictional team competing against Formula 1’s established constructors. Hayes must contribute on track while helping develop Joshua Pearce, whose ambition and driving style do not always align with Hayes’s experience.
The story is a scripted sports drama, not a documentary and not a retelling of a real driver’s career. Its themes are comeback, mentorship, rivalry and the cost of competing at the highest level.

How real is the Formula 1 action?
APXGP and its drivers are fictional. Formula 1 describes APXGP as a fictional 11th team, while the production was made in collaboration with the real championship and filmed around actual F1 events, including race-weekend environments. That access helps explain the film’s authentic locations, cars, branding and paddock atmosphere.
It remains Hollywood fiction: the film does not depict a real championship season, and Brad Pitt did not compete as an official Formula 1 driver. He portrays Sonny Hayes in staged production footage within the real F1 setting.

Why the original “summer blockbuster” wording is now dated
Apple promoted F1 The Movie as a 2025 summer theatrical event. That description makes sense for its June 2025 cinema release, but it is not an upcoming summer film in 2026. The accurate current description is a released Apple Original Film that is available on Apple TV, subject to regional terms.
