Spotify says the calculation ran until mid-November 2025, not December 31. The company did not publish a precise final cutoff day in its official explanation. Wrapped launched on December 3, after Spotify had time to check and prepare the data.
When did Spotify Wrapped start tracking for 2025?
The 2025 Wrapped calculation period started on January 1, 2025. That is the beginning of Spotify’s Wrapped measurement window, not necessarily the date on which Spotify began collecting every kind of account activity.
Spotify describes the period as running “from January until mid November.” The same window applied to eligible Free and Premium listeners in supported markets, subject to Spotify’s requirements.
When did Spotify Wrapped stop tracking in 2025?
Spotify says the 2025 Wrapped data ran through mid-November 2025. Its official methodology explanation does not identify a specific final day or timestamp, so dates such as November 14 or November 15 should not be treated as confirmed Spotify policy.

The practical cutoff was therefore before the December release. Listening after that point was outside the 2025 Wrapped calculation, even if Spotify retained it for other product or account purposes.
See Spotify’s methodology explanation for the stated window and counting rules: Spotify’s 2025 Wrapped methodology.

Did November and December listening count?
Listening through mid-November
Listening during the January-to-mid-November window could contribute to 2025 Wrapped if it met Spotify’s stream, eligibility, and metric-specific rules.
Late November and December
Listening after the mid-November cutoff—including most or all of late November and December—was outside the 2025 Wrapped dataset. That is why a song played heavily in December can be missing from the recap.

Spotify’s published explanation does not say exactly how every post-cutoff play is allocated in a later Wrapped edition. Do not assume that December listening automatically becomes part of the following year’s recap.
Why isn’t Wrapped a full January-to-December record?
Spotify ends the Wrapped data window before launch so it can check, process, and prepare the experience. In 2025, the stated mid-November cutoff left time before the December 3 release.
“Annual” describes the way Wrapped is presented, but its underlying 2025 data covers January 1 through mid-November rather than the complete calendar year.
Spotify explains the production rationale in How your Wrapped is made.

What counted as a Wrapped stream?
Spotify says a track must play for more than 30 seconds to count as a Wrapped listen. A skip before that threshold may not add a play, while repeated or background listening can affect totals when tracks pass it.
- A remembered song start is not necessarily a qualifying stream.
- Repeated plays can increase a song’s total.
- Background playback can count if the track crosses the threshold.
- Wrapped results reflect Spotify’s rules and data window, not a person’s memory of what they played.
Read the stated rule in Spotify’s methodology explanation.
Do Private Sessions and excluded songs count?
There is no single yes-or-no answer for every Wrapped card. Spotify distinguishes between eligibility, total listening time, and taste-based stories.
Private Mode
Spotify says Private Mode does not shape certain taste-based stories and does not count toward Wrapped eligibility. It should not be assumed that Private Session plays will appear in top artists, top songs, or other personalized taste rankings.

Exclude from Taste Profile
Listening excluded through Spotify’s Exclude from Taste Profile feature can still count toward total time spent with Spotify while not shaping taste-based stories. Exclusion therefore does not necessarily erase every usage metric, but it can keep listening out of taste rankings and eligibility calculations.
Spotify describes these distinctions in its explanation of how Wrapped is made.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who was eligible for a personalized 2025 Wrapped?
Spotify’s 2025 launch information required at least 30 valid songs streamed for more than 30 seconds each and at least five different artists, along with availability in a supported market and compliance with Spotify’s applicable rules.
The thresholds determine access to a personalized Wrapped experience; they do not guarantee that every individual story or statistic will appear for every listener. The experience was offered to both Free and Premium users in nearly all Spotify markets, subject to eligibility and local availability. Spotify advised users to update the iOS or Android mobile app. Details appear in the 2025 Wrapped launch announcement.

- Block the World, Keep the Music: Four built-in mics work together to filter out background noise — whether you're in a packed office, on a crowded commute, or moving through a busy street — so every beat comes through clean and clear. (Not available in AUX-in mode.)
- Two Ways to Hear More: BassUp technology delivers deep, punchy bass and crisp highs in wireless mode — then step it up further by plugging in the included AUX cable to unlock Hi‑Res certified audio for studio-level clarity.
- 40 Hours. 5-Minute Top-Up: With ANC on, a single charge keeps you listening through days of commutes and long-haul flights. Running low? Just 5 minutes plugged in gives you 4 more hours — so you're never stuck waiting.
- Two Devices, Zero Hassle: Stay connected to your laptop and phone at the same time. Audio switches automatically to whichever device needs you — so a call never interrupts your flow, and getting back to your playlist is just as easy. Designed for commuters and remote workers who move smoothly between work and personal listening throughout the day.
- Your Sound, Your Rules: The soundcore app puts everything at your fingertips — dials your ideal EQ with presets or build your own, flip between ANC, Normal, and Transparency modes on the fly, or wind down with built-in white noise. One app, total control.
What about offline listening?
Spotify’s general Wrapped explanation does not establish a universal synchronization deadline for offline plays. Offline activity may not be reflected until Spotify receives the relevant listening data, so do not treat every offline play as guaranteed to appear immediately or in a particular Wrapped card.
How can you track the part of the year Wrapped omits?
You cannot change Spotify’s official cutoff, but you can maintain a separate full-year record:
- Start a third-party listening-history or scrobbling service before the year begins and leave it connected.
- Request Spotify account data when that option is available and retain the listening-history files.
- Save monthly screenshots or export summaries to a personal spreadsheet.
- Record December listening separately if you want a January-to-December comparison with Wrapped.
These methods are independent records; they do not add late-November or December plays to 2025 Wrapped.
Quick Recap
Why might your Wrapped results look wrong?
- Your favorite track may have been played after the mid-November cutoff.
- Some starts may have ended before the 30-second qualifying threshold.
- Private Mode or Taste Profile exclusions may have kept listening out of taste-based stories or eligibility.
- Total minutes and taste rankings can use different treatment rules.
- Background playback may have produced qualifying streams you did not intentionally select.
