You can remove unwanted titles from Prime Video’s Continue Watching, but the steps depend on where you see the row. On the website, use Edit and the title’s X; on supported Fire TV devices, highlight the title, press Menu, and choose Remove from Continue Watching. If neither option is available, try deleting that title’s Watch History entry from the correct profile.
Before you remove a title
- Check the profile. Viewing activity is tied to a profile, so switch to the one that watched the title before changing its history.
- Identify which row you’re looking at. A row inside the Prime Video app is not necessarily the same as Fire TV’s home-screen Continue Watching row. Fire TV can include supported third-party app content as well as Prime Video titles.
- Know which list you want to change. Continue Watching reflects viewing progress; Watch History records activity; Watchlist holds titles saved for later. Removing a title from one does not automatically remove it from the others.
Amazon’s interfaces and available controls can vary by device, account, and market. The browser and supported Fire TV methods below have the clearest documented steps.
1. Remove a title from Continue Watching on the website
Use this method when the Prime Video website shows an Edit control beside the Continue Watching row. Amazon staff have described the following browser steps in the Amazon forum:
- Open Prime Video in a desktop browser and sign in.
- Select the profile that contains the title.
- Find the Continue Watching row and select Edit.
- Select the X beside each title you want to remove.
- Select Done.
The title should disappear from the row in that browser. The Edit control may not appear in every version of the site or account interface. If it is missing, use Watch History instead. Other devices may need a refresh before they show the change.

2. Delete the title from Watch History
Use Watch History when the website’s row editor is unavailable, or when a title keeps appearing despite removal. Deleting the relevant movie or episode’s history entry generally removes the viewing-progress record associated with Continue Watching. Amazon staff recommend this approach for titles that remain in the row (Amazon forum guidance; additional instructions).
- Open Prime Video in a browser and select the profile that watched the title.
- Go to Account & Settings, then select Watch History. Amazon’s Watch History destination is here.
- Find the specific movie, show, or episode and use its delete control.
Delete only the entry you intend to remove when possible. Removing a Watch History entry changes viewing data for that profile and may affect recommendations; it does not remove the title from Amazon’s catalog or delete a purchase or rental from your account.

3. Remove it from a Fire TV device
On Fire TV devices that have a Continue Watching row, Amazon’s current instructions are:
- Go to the Fire TV home screen and highlight the unwanted title in Continue Watching.
- Press the remote’s Menu button.
- Select Remove from Continue Watching.
This control is for Fire TV devices that display the row, according to Amazon’s Fire TV help page. The label or available action can differ for third-party titles and as the interface changes.

4. Try the contextual menu in the phone or tablet app
Some Prime Video app versions may offer a removal action from a title’s contextual menu. The gesture and label are not established as universal across current iPhone, iPad, and Android apps.
- Open Prime Video and switch to the profile with the unwanted title.
- Find the title in Continue Watching and press and hold it, or open its contextual menu if one is shown.
- If an option such as Remove from List or Remove from Continue Watching appears, select it.
If the app offers no removal option, use the website’s row editor or Watch History steps instead. Amazon’s Prime Video support hub provides help by topic; user reports about app and history variations are also discussed in this Amazon forum thread.

- Getting set up is easy – Plug in and connect to Wi-Fi for smooth streaming.
5. Handle live-TV, third-party, or stuck entries
First determine whether the entry appears in Prime Video itself or in Fire TV’s home-screen row. Fire TV can show content from supported third-party apps, so an item may need to be managed in the service that supplied it. Amazon notes that Netflix content must be managed from Netflix’s content-detail page and that a third-party title can return after it is watched again (Fire TV third-party content guidance).
- Highlight the entry on Fire TV and press Menu. Choose Remove from Continue Watching if the option is available.
- If the title belongs to Netflix or another app, open that service and use its own history or removal control.
- Confirm that the active Fire TV and Prime Video profiles are the ones associated with the viewing activity.
- On Fire TV, go to Settings > Account & Profile Settings > Sync Amazon Content.
- Allow time for the row to refresh. Amazon says the normal Fire TV refresh can take up to five minutes; its developer documentation also describes syncing as a way to force an update.
For Roku, smart TVs, Apple TV, and game consoles, the available Prime Video controls are not established as one shared, current path. Look for a title context menu or the device’s options/menu button; if no removal command appears, use the browser method.

If the title comes back or remains visible
- Check the active profile. Another profile may have generated the same title’s activity.
- Check the source app. A supported third-party entry may need to be removed in its originating service and can return after it is watched again.
- Refresh Prime Video. Close and reopen the app; if needed, sign out and back in.
- Remove the specific Watch History entry. This can address progress that remains after using the row’s removal control.
- Sync Fire TV content and wait. Use Settings > Account & Profile Settings > Sync Amazon Content; the documented refresh can take up to five minutes.
Older Amazon forum posts mention labels such as Remove from List or Hide this Title, while current Fire TV help uses Remove from Continue Watching. Choose the removal action your device actually displays rather than assuming those labels are interchangeable (older forum discussion).
What removal changes—and what it doesn’t
Removing an entry from Continue Watching is not the same as deleting it from Watchlist, canceling Prime, or removing a purchase or rental from your account. Deleting an item from Watch History changes that profile’s viewing record, not the availability of the title in Amazon’s catalog. Choose the narrowest control that solves the problem: use the row editor to remove a visible entry, and delete Watch History only for the specific activity you want cleared.
