Taylor Swift was booed when she appeared on the stadium video boards during a first-quarter break at Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025. Seated with Ice Spice, she appeared to give a side-eye and wrinkle her nose after realizing the reaction was directed at her. That is what the contemporaneous footage and reporting establish; they do not reveal what individual fans intended or how Swift felt privately.
What happened at Super Bowl LIX
The Philadelphia Eagles played the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans on February 9, 2025. During a break in the first quarter, the stadium screens showed Swift seated alongside Ice Spice. The crowd booed while Swift was on screen, according to the Associated Press report published that night.
Swift was attending to support Travis Kelce, the Chiefs tight end. Philadelphia ultimately won 40–22.
What her reaction looked like
The AP described the visible response this way: “She gave a bit of a side-eye look and wrinkled her nose when she realized the boos were for her.” The description is limited to an observable expression. It is not evidence that she was humiliated, angry, amused or upset.

A Storyful listing of the news footage identifies Swift on the large screen with Ice Spice and credits Sully Engels as the person who filmed the screen. Storyful says the clip was made available to subscription clients for news use with the content owner’s permission, so the listing should not be treated as blanket permission to repost it or as a consumer streaming service.
Why did the stadium boo?
No reliable report establishes a single motive for every person who booed. The AP offered broader context rather than an incident-specific explanation.

Reaction to Swift’s NFL visibility
AP reported that some sports fans had turned against Swift because they believed NFL broadcasts gave her too much attention during games. That is a reported strand of broader fan sentiment, not proof of what any particular person in the stadium was thinking at that moment.
Hostility toward a dominant Chiefs team
AP also reported that even more fans had soured on Kansas City as the Chiefs continued to dominate the league. Swift was supporting Kansas City while having grown up near Philadelphia, which added a local-rivalry dimension to the scene. Neither fact identifies an individual booer’s reason.

Political explanations are separate from the stadium evidence
Former President Donald Trump later commented on the incident and connected it to Swift’s 2024 endorsement. That later political reaction does not establish that politics caused the boos inside the stadium.
What the moment does—and does not—show
- Established: Swift appeared on the stadium boards with Ice Spice during a first-quarter break, and boos were audible from the crowd.
- Established: Contemporary AP reporting characterized her visible response as a side-eye and a wrinkled nose.

The game’s final result
The Eagles beat the Chiefs 40–22, a result reported by the Associated Press. The booing occurred briefly when Swift appeared on the video boards; reports do not describe it as a continuous response throughout the game.
