Yes, YouTube TV currently lists an active referral program—but “up to $450” is not a guaranteed credit for every subscriber. YouTube’s Help Center confirms that eligible members can earn as many as 10 referral discounts, but it does not publish a universal dollar amount. The $450 figure reflects a $45-per-referral offer reported in 2022; check the referral page tied to your account for the current amount and terms.
What “up to $450” means
The $450 maximum comes from simple math: $45 for each of 10 qualifying referrals. A December 2022 9to5Google report documented that structure, including a separate $15 discount for the new subscriber in that promotion. Treat those dollar amounts as historical, not as a promise of today’s offer. YouTube’s current referral instructions confirm the 10-discount limit and say terms can change, but do not give one standard referral amount.

So the program’s availability, its cap, and the dollar value are separate questions. The program is listed as active; the official page says a sender can receive up to 10 discounts; the amount displayed for your account determines what each one is worth. Reaching $450 would require an offer of $45 per referral and 10 separate successful referrals. Sharing a link—or having someone start a free trial—does not by itself earn the maximum.

You need an eligible, active, paying YouTube TV main plan. According to YouTube, the sender cannot be on a trial or have a paused membership, have only individual network add-ons, or be billed through a mobile carrier or internet provider. Use the Google account associated with the eligible YouTube TV subscription.

Family-group members may be able to send referrals, but YouTube says the family manager receives the automatic discount. If you are unsure whether your billing arrangement qualifies, check the referral page while signed in to the subscription account.
Who can receive a referral?
The offer is generally for a first-time YouTube TV subscriber. YouTube says someone who previously had a YouTube TV subscription or trial is not eligible for the referral offer. Do not assume that a former customer becomes eligible after waiting a certain amount of time; check the terms shown in the individual signup flow.

How to find and send your referral link
- Open the YouTube TV app or go to tv.youtube.com in a browser.
- Sign in to the Google account linked to your active, paid main plan.
- Select your profile icon, then choose Refer a friend.
- Review the offer shown for your account, then copy or share the generated link.
YouTube’s iPhone and iPad guidance says referrals cannot be sent directly from those devices. If the option is missing in the iOS app, try a computer or another supported interface.

How the new subscriber should redeem it
- Open the referral link and continue the signup from that page. Starting a separate signup later can make it harder to attribute the referral.
- Choose an available trial or subscription option, and complete the account, plan, and payment steps.
- Before confirming, check that the referral discount appears in the offer or checkout details. The amount can vary; do not rely on a figure quoted by the sender unless it matches the offer shown to you.
- If a trial is offered, complete it and make the first successful paid payment for the referral to qualify the sender.
The new subscriber’s discount applies to the first monthly bill after a trial converts to paid membership, according to YouTube’s instructions. A trial alone does not trigger the referrer’s reward.

When does the referrer get the bill credit?
YouTube says the referred person must become a paying subscriber and make the first payment. After that, the referrer’s discount is applied to their next monthly bill. It is a bill reduction, not cash paid out immediately. To check the referral history and upcoming discounts, look under Your discounts in YouTube TV.
If the friend never pays after a trial, there should be no referral credit. Likewise, a referral may not qualify if the recipient was ineligible or the signup was not associated with the link.

Why a referral discount may not appear
- The friend only started a trial: The sender’s discount depends on the recipient becoming a paying subscriber and making the first payment.
- The recipient had YouTube TV before: A previous subscription or trial can make them ineligible.
- They signed up another way: Starting later from the YouTube TV homepage or through a different offer may break referral attribution. Begin and complete signup from the referral link.
- The sender’s account is not eligible: Check that the main plan is active and paid, not paused or in trial, and billed directly rather than through a carrier or internet provider.
- The wrong account was used: Confirm that the sender is viewing the referral page for the account with the eligible subscription and that the recipient completed signup with the account used in the referral flow.
- The sender reached the cap: After 10 referral discounts, YouTube says the link no longer works. The cap is on earned discounts, not simply on how many times the link is shared.
- The first payment has not cleared or the next bill is not due: Check the recipient’s payment status and the referral entry under Your discounts. The referrer’s credit is tied to the first payment and next monthly bill.
If the offer appeared to qualify but is still missing after the relevant payment and billing date, review the account’s referral history and contact YouTube TV support with the signup details. The Help Center does not promise a credit merely because a link was clicked.

No assumption of stacking is safe. YouTube says a referral discount cannot be combined with other coupon codes; only one will apply. That means a referral may replace another discount rather than add to it. Compare the final checkout amount for the referral flow with any direct introductory offer or partner promotion available to you, and consider the regular price after a promotion ends. Do not count on stacking a referral with a trial, bundle, card offer, or promotional plan price unless the checkout explicitly shows both.

For an existing subscriber, the referral makes most sense when the account page shows a worthwhile amount and the people being referred are genuinely new, eligible customers. For a prospective subscriber, judge the actual first bill and later price—not the headline maximum alone.
Check your offer before quoting a number
Some 2026 coverage has repeated the “up to $450” claim, but YouTube’s public Help Center does not show a universal $45 amount. The reliable check is the referral page attached to the sender’s account and the discount displayed to the recipient during signup. If those screens do not show $45 per qualifying referral, do not treat $450 as your available maximum.
