The April 5–6, 2025 weekend guide featured two major season finales, four Netflix releases, a mature FX limited series, supernatural horror-comedy, a London crime drama, and a family film that was still playing in theaters. Here is what each pick offered—and which details should not be mistaken for current availability.
The two finales to prioritize
If you wanted appointment television on April 5–6, 2025, the weekend’s biggest events were the finales of The White Lotus season 3 and 1923 season 2. The rest of the lineup covered documentary true crime, reality dating, medical drama, comedy, supernatural horror, and a family theatrical release.
Because that weekend has already passed, this is best read as a historical guide to what was new then—not a guarantee of what remains in each service’s catalog now. Streaming rights, episode schedules, runtimes, and regional availability change, so check the relevant service before planning a watch.

The third season of Mike White’s resort satire concluded after moving the story to Thailand. The finale was promoted as a major Sunday-night event, with the original weekend guide describing it as a 90-minute episode. Warner Bros. Discovery later reported 6.2 million U.S. cross-platform viewers for finale night.
This is the obvious choice for viewers who had followed the season week by week and wanted to see how its overlapping stories of privilege, family tension, desire, and danger resolved. If you were starting from scratch, however, it made more sense to begin with the season premiere rather than jump directly into the finale.
2. 1923 season 2 finale
Where it was featured: Paramount+
When: April 6, 2025
Best for: Yellowstone fans and viewers who prefer sweeping family dramas
The second season of the Yellowstone prequel brought the Dutton family’s latest crisis to its weekend climax. The season’s story involved brutal winter conditions, threats to the family’s Montana future, and Spencer Dutton’s effort to make his way home. The original article called the finale a two-hour event.

One timing detail matters: April 6 was the weekend guide’s finale date, while Paramount’s later reporting described the broader season window as extending into April 12. In other words, the episode was the weekend’s featured appointment, but published schedule information did not always describe the season in exactly the same way.
Four Netflix releases for very different moods
3. Love on the Spectrum season 3
Release: April 2, 2025 on Netflix
Best for: A warm, relationship-focused binge
Netflix’s Emmy-winning docu-reality series returned to follow autistic people as they navigated dating and relationships. Returning participants, including Abbey and David, were part of the emotional appeal, alongside new people meeting potential partners and figuring out what they want from romance.
The series works best when its participants are treated as complete people rather than as diagnoses or inspirational devices. It is a relationship show first: the dates, awkward moments, hopes, disappointments, and connections drive the viewing experience. Availability and season labeling should be checked before republishing because the catalog has moved on since season 3’s launch.

4. Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer
Release: Netflix’s spring 2025 documentary slate
Best for: Viewers looking for investigative true crime
Directed by Liz Garbus, this documentary examines the Gilgo Beach killings through the families’ search for answers, the investigation’s long stagnation, and the later breakthrough involving suspect Rex Heuermann. Its focus is not simply the identity of a suspect; it also considers the victims, the families, and the institutional failures and persistence surrounding the case.
Since the legal and investigative situation remained developing, do not treat a 2025 description as a current case update. Anyone publishing this recommendation today should separately verify the latest court and investigative information rather than infer it from the documentary or the original roundup.
5. Pulse
Release: April 3, 2025 on Netflix
Best for: Viewers who want a new medical workplace drama
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThis fictional drama takes place at a Miami Level 1 trauma center during a hurricane. Resident Dr. Danny Simms is unexpectedly promoted while dealing with professional pressure and the consequences of an illicit romance.
The setup gives Pulse two sources of pressure: the emergency department’s immediate crisis and the personal and professional conflicts inside the hospital. It is a drama for viewers looking for an ER-style ensemble with romance and workplace politics—not a clinical resource or a guide to emergency medicine.
6. Survival of the Thickest season 2
Release status: Available during the April 5–6, 2025 weekend on Netflix
Best for: An upbeat comedy after heavier viewing
Michelle Buteau’s Mavis continued navigating life as a single thirty-something while building a plus-size fashion brand. The second season balanced dating, friendships, career ambitions, and the sometimes messy process of personal growth.
Rank #3
- Memory storage capacity: 8 GB
Among the ten picks, this was the clearest counterweight to the finales, the true-crime documentary, and the mortality-focused limited series. It offered a lighter option without making Mavis’s work or relationships feel like side plots. Check Netflix for the current season status before using this as a present-tense recommendation.
7. Dying for Sex
Where it was featured: Hulu; an FX limited series
Release: Began streaming April 4, 2025
Best for: Adults seeking dark humor and an emotionally intense limited series
Michelle Williams plays Molly Kochan, a woman facing terminal breast cancer who leaves her marriage and explores her sexuality with the support of her best friend Nikki Boyer, played by Jenny Slate. The story draws on Kochan and Boyer’s real-life podcast and experiences.
The series combines explicit sexual self-discovery with grief, friendship, mortality, and dark comedy. It is not suitable for a broad family movie night, and the subject matter may be difficult for viewers affected by cancer or bereavement. It should also not be presented as medical advice or as a general model for people living with cancer.
8. The Bondsman
Where it was featured: Prime Video
Release: April 3, 2025
Best for: Supernatural action, horror-comedy, and genre fans
Kevin Bacon stars as Hub Halloran, a murdered bounty hunter resurrected by the Devil and tasked with hunting demons that escaped from Hell. Prime Video identified the first season as an eight-episode series.
The premise puts The Bondsman firmly in supernatural action-comedy territory. Although Hub is a bounty hunter, this is not a conventional procedural about tracking ordinary fugitives. Its appeal is the collision of demon hunting, violence, dark humor, and a country-music-inflected world.
9. MobLand
Where it was featured: Paramount+
Release pattern: New episodes were scheduled for Sundays during the original weekend frame
Best for: Viewers who want an ensemble crime drama

MobLand centers on rival London families and the power struggles between them. Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren headline the prominent cast, with Tom Hardy in a central role.
This was the pick for viewers who wanted organized-crime conflict and a prestige-drama cast rather than a self-contained movie. Because its recommendation depended on a weekly release schedule, current episode availability, season status, and platform should all be verified before publication or viewing.

Original weekend status: In theaters from April 4, 2025
Best for: Families and Minecraft players
The weekend’s family choice was not originally a streaming release. A Minecraft Movie opened theatrically on April 4, immediately before the April 5–6 window, offering a recognizable video-game adaptation aimed especially at families and fans of the game.

That distinction is important: it should not be described as available to stream during the original weekend. Warner Bros. later announced an exclusive Max streaming debut for June 20, 2025, and the film subsequently received DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD editions.
If you are planning a family movie night later, look for A Minecraft Movie DVD, Blu-ray, or 4K UHD rather than assuming the theatrical-release information from April 2025 is still current. Format availability, price, and inventory should be checked at the time of purchase.

What remains useful about this list
The original April 5–6 guide was a snapshot of a particularly varied streaming weekend: two large-scale finales, four Netflix options with sharply different tones, a mature FX limited series, a supernatural Prime Video show, a Paramount+ crime drama, and a family film still in theaters. Its recommendations remain useful as a record of that release window, but not as a live catalog guide.
Before publishing or relying on it now, recheck each service’s current rights and regional catalog, whether a title requires an add-on subscription, episode runtimes, and whether weekly releases have concluded. For Gone Girls, also consult current legal reporting if you are making any statement about the Gilgo Beach case beyond the documentary’s premise.
