How to download Crunchyroll episodes on Nintendo Switch
- Open the Crunchyroll app on your Nintendo Switch and sign in.

Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan members can download individual episodes and, where offered, complete seasons on Switch. Where are Crunchyroll downloads stored?
On Android and iPhone/iPad, use My Lists → Downloads. On Nintendo Switch, use App Menu → Downloads. The downloads are managed by Crunchyroll’s app and are not presented as transferable files in your device’s normal video library.
This means you should not expect to:
- copy a downloaded episode to a Windows or Mac computer;
- move it to a USB drive or another phone as an MP4;
- play it in VLC or another third-party media player; or

Change download quality and manage storage
Crunchyroll offers High, Medium, and Low download-quality settings. The trade-off is straightforward:

The number of episodes you can save depends on available local storage, not simply on how many episodes your plan permits. Remove watched downloads or free space in the device’s storage settings. On Switch, an installed microSD card can provide more room for offline viewing.

Wi-Fi is usually the safer choice. A high-quality episode or full season can consume a significant amount of mobile data, and a download that fails partway through may need to be restarted. If you must use cellular data, check your data allowance first and consider Medium or Low quality.
Why is the Download button missing?
A missing Download icon is different from a download that starts and then fails. If there is no button at all, the likely explanations include:
- your current plan is not eligible for offline viewing;
- the title or particular episode is not licensed for download in your region;
- the platform is unsupported, such as a PC browser or Windows setup;
- the app needs updating; or
- the feature or plan is being presented differently in your region or billing channel.
Crunchyroll’s dedicated mobile and Switch support information currently points to Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan for downloads. Do not assume that every plan with “Fan” in its name includes offline viewing; check the plan details shown for your account and region.
What to do when a Crunchyroll download fails
If the Download button is present but the episode will not save, work through these checks in order:
- Update the app and operating system. Install available Crunchyroll and device updates.
- Retry the download. A temporary network interruption may be enough to cause the first attempt to fail.
- Lower the quality. Go to Account → Downloads → Download Quality and try Medium or Low.
- Download one episode at a time. This reduces simultaneous storage and network demands.
- Restart the device. Then reopen Crunchyroll and retry.
- Change networks. Test a stable Wi-Fi connection; if appropriate, test cellular data after enabling downloads over cellular.
- Free storage. Delete old downloads and other unnecessary files. Insufficient space is especially important on Switch.
- Contact Crunchyroll Support. If the problem continues after these steps, provide the device model, operating-system version, app version, title, and any displayed error message.
If only one series is affected while other titles download normally, licensing or title-specific availability is more likely than a general device failure. If every title fails, storage, network, app, or account issues become more likely.
