How to install Prime Video on Windows 10
- Connect the computer to the internet.
- Open the Start menu and launch Microsoft Store.
- Use the Store search box to search for Prime Video for Windows or Amazon Prime Video.
- Select the official Prime Video app. Check the publisher and app name carefully so you do not install an unrelated application.
- Select Get or Install.
- Wait for the installation to finish, then select Open.
The exact button label may differ. The app may also be hidden or unavailable if it is not offered in your country or region, has been removed from the Store, is incompatible with the PC, or is affected by Microsoft account, family-setting, or Store-update problems.
How to sign in and start watching
- Open the installed Prime Video app from the Start menu or Microsoft Store.
- Choose the sign-in or registration option shown on screen.
- Sign in with the Amazon account that has the Prime Video subscription or access needed for the title.

How to download Prime Video titles for offline viewing
Offline downloads must be started inside the Prime Video app. Ordinary browser playback does not provide the same Windows download workflow.
- Open the Prime Video app and find the film or television series.
- Open the title’s detail page.
- Look for the Download control. If it is not present, that title may not be available for download.
- For a television series, choose to download the whole season if that option is offered, or select individual episodes.
- If the app asks where to save the download, choose a location on the PC’s internal storage when possible.
Amazon supports downloads through the Prime Video apps for Windows 10 and 11, macOS, iOS, and Android, as well as on Fire tablets. It does not make every title downloadable, so check each title page rather than assuming that the entire catalog supports offline viewing.
Amazon does not recommend saving downloads to USB-connected drives. Downloaded playback also cannot be sent through Chromecast or AirPlay. Other adapters or supported devices may work in particular setups, but compatibility is not universal.
Watching Prime Video on a television
You do not need an external accessory to install or use the Windows app. If you want to show the computer’s picture on a television, connect the PC to a compatible display using the appropriate video connection. An optional HDMI cable may be suitable for a laptop or desktop with an HDMI output and a television with an HDMI input, but the correct cable or adapter depends on the ports on both devices.

What to do if Prime Video is missing from Microsoft Store
If searching Microsoft Store produces no official Prime Video result, work through these checks:
- Confirm that you are signed in to the intended Microsoft account.
- Check the Microsoft Store region and whether the app is available in your country.
- Confirm that the PC meets the app’s Windows compatibility requirements.
- Restart Windows if the computer recently installed an update.
- Check family settings, account authorization, and Store restrictions.
- Try opening Prime Video in a supported browser as an immediate alternative.
Do not try to install the Amazon Appstore as the Windows 10 route to Prime Video. The Amazon Appstore was an Android-app distribution route for Windows 11, not the normal Windows 10 installation method. Microsoft says the Amazon Appstore and Windows Subsystem for Android stopped being available in Microsoft Store on March 5, 2025.
What to do if the app will not install or launch
Microsoft’s Windows 10 Store troubleshooting sequence is a useful escalation path:
- Sign in to your Microsoft account.
- Install any pending Windows updates.
- Confirm that the app is compatible with Windows 10.
- Update Microsoft Store. Open Store, select See more (the three-dot menu), choose Downloads and updates, and select Get updates.
- Repair or reset the app through Windows app settings. Repair first because it may preserve app data; reset is a stronger step and can clear local app data.
- Reinstall it by opening Microsoft Store > See more > My Library, locating Prime Video, and selecting Install.
- Run the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter from Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
If the app installs but playback fails, first restart the app and check the internet connection. Then install pending Windows and Store updates. If playback is still limited, test the same title in a current supported browser to distinguish an app problem from an account, title, network, or service problem.

Why playback may look worse than expected
- Use the current version of the Windows app or a current supported browser.
- Check whether other devices or users are consuming bandwidth.
- Restart the router or test the connection if the stream repeatedly drops quality.
- Check the title’s available audio, subtitle, and quality options.
- Remember that Amazon’s general Windows-app documentation lists up to HD and stereo, not universal 4K or advanced surround formats.
Installing a higher-resolution display, a driver utility, or a new computer cannot guarantee a higher Prime Video stream. Those changes may address a broader Windows or display problem, but they do not override Prime Video’s title, account, app, and platform limits.

If Microsoft Store is unavailable or the app will not cooperate, open Prime Video in a current desktop browser. Amazon lists Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Safari, and Opera for computer playback. Amazon documents computer browser playback on Windows, macOS, Chrome OS, and Linux, generally up to HD with stereo sound on supported computer operating systems.

Browser playback is the simplest fallback and does not require a Microsoft Store installation. The important trade-off is offline viewing: Amazon’s Windows download instructions apply to the Prime Video app, not ordinary browser playback.
Windows 10 support warning
Microsoft ended Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025. The operating system can continue to run, but Microsoft no longer provides the normal free Windows Update software updates, technical assistance, or security fixes available during the supported lifecycle.

This is an operating-system lifecycle issue, not confirmation that the Prime Video Windows app has been discontinued. Amazon’s current documentation still lists the app for Windows 10/11, but Store visibility, compatibility, and future availability can change. If Prime Video is important on this PC, moving to a supported Windows release—or using a supported browser or another Prime Video device—may be the more durable choice.
