CBS revealed the official Survivor 49 cast on August 20, 2025. The season features 18 new castaways competing in Fiji for the $1 million prize and the title of Sole Survivor. They were set to begin the game in three tribes of six, with Jeff Probst returning as host and executive producer.
The cast announcement also came with an unusual last-minute change: Jason Treul and Michelle “MC” Chukwujekwu joined the filmed cast as alternates roughly 12 hours before marooning. Two previously selected players were removed during the final pregame period after issues described in reporting as involving rules or conduct toward the casting team. The identities of those players were not disclosed, and there is no verified basis for speculating about them.

Nicole Mazullo is a financial crime consultant, a profession that requires investigative and analytical expertise. The cast also includes musician Kimberly “Annie” Davis, former reporter Savannah Louie, wellness specialist Shannon Fairweather, and MBA career coach Kristina Mills.
Other castaways bring backgrounds in politics, corrections, law, video production, global events, aviation, technology sales, social work, entrepreneurship, and corporate strategy. Those occupations make useful introductions to the players, but they do not establish who will be strategically strong, socially persuasive, physically capable, or successful in the game. A job title alone is not a prediction of a castaway’s performance.

Why Jason Treul and Michelle “MC” Chukwujekwu joined so late
Jason Treul and Michelle “MC” Chukwujekwu were alternates who became part of the filmed season shortly before the game began. According to reporting on Jeff Probst’s explanation, both were notified about 12 hours before the marooning that they would replace two originally selected players.
The removals were linked in that reporting to violations of the show’s rules or unacceptable conduct toward members of the casting team. The available accounts do not name the removed players or explain the precise conduct at issue. For that reason, they should be described as players who were removed or replaced during the pregame period—not as “disqualified contestants” unless a source explicitly uses that term.

The timing makes Treul and Chukwujekwu different from ordinary alternates who remain outside the filmed cast. They had to enter the season with substantially less notice than the other 16 players, although the public cast announcement does not establish how that affected their preparation or chances.
