Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer appear together in Uber Eats’ 2024 Super Bowl commercial, but it is not a new Friends episode or an official reunion special. The ad uses viewers’ familiarity with Aniston and Schwimmer as former Friends co-stars as part of a larger joke about forgetting something in order to remember that Uber Eats delivers more than restaurant meals.

The ad uses viewers’ familiarity with Aniston and Schwimmer as former Friends co-stars as part of a larger joke about forgetting something in order to remember that Uber Eats delivers more than restaurant meals.
What happens in the Uber Eats commercial?
The campaign is built around the line “Don’t forget to remember Uber Eats.” Its premise is deliberately circular: the characters want to remember that Uber Eats can deliver “almost, almost anything,” so they try to forget other facts taking up space in their memories.
In the Aniston–Schwimmer segment, Jennifer Aniston receives an Uber Eats delivery and encounters David Schwimmer. The joke depends on the audience recognizing the two actors and their shared history on Friends, while Aniston’s character behaves as if she does not know Schwimmer. Schwimmer’s frustrated attempt to be recognized supplies the reversal.

The commercial does not establish that Aniston literally forgot Schwimmer, and the actors are not presented as Rachel Green and Ross Geller in a continuation of the sitcom’s story. They are appearing as celebrities whose well-known connection gives the joke its impact. Calling the scene a “Friends reunion” is understandable shorthand, but it should not be confused with a scripted episode or formal series reunion.
Viewers who want to revisit the connection can look for a Friends complete-series DVD or Blu-ray box set. That is a related home-media suggestion for fans—not a product shown in, delivered by, or endorsed through the commercial.
Who is in the full ad?
The celebrity cast turns recognizable public associations into individual forgetfulness gags:
| Celebrity | What the joke references |
|---|---|
| Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer | Their shared history as Friends co-stars, who played Rachel and Ross |
| David and Victoria Beckham | Their difficulty recalling the name of the Spice Girls |
| Jelly Roll | An attempt to forget or remove his tattoos |
| Usher | His apparent failure to realize that he has just performed the Super Bowl halftime show |
Uber’s campaign announcement identifies the central cast, the creative premise, and the broader delivery message.
When did the commercial air?
Uber announced the campaign on February 6, 2024, ahead of Super Bowl LVIII. The full commercial was scheduled to run just after the halftime show during the third quarter of the game on Sunday, February 11, 2024. Super Bowl LVIII was played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and Usher was the halftime performer—making his appearance in the ad deliberately self-referential.

Uber described the campaign as its fourth consecutive year returning to the Super Bowl. The company also extended the idea beyond the television spot with a “Get Almost Almost Anything Shop” at Super Bowl Experience in Las Vegas. Visitors could use the Uber Eats app for Super Bowl necessities and browse categories including groceries and beauty products. That activation made the commercial’s larger point clear: the campaign was promoting Uber Eats as a broader delivery marketplace, not only as a way to order prepared food.
The peanut-allergy scene and the edited versions
There are two versions of the campaign that should be kept separate.
The original online pre-release cut included a scene involving someone forgetting that peanut butter contains peanuts, in a context involving a peanut allergy. Food-allergy organizations criticized the joke because a serious allergy can be life-threatening. According to TheWrap’s report, the online version became unlisted and Uber removed the peanut-allergy reference before the commercial’s broad Super Bowl television airing.

Uber’s later help documentation about allergy requests explains how allergy-related requests may be handled when ordering. That is operational guidance published separately from the 2024 advertisement; it should not be treated as part of the commercial’s original message or as a response shown in the spot.
Who created the “Don’t Forget Uber Eats” campaign?
Trade coverage credits Special US as the creative agency behind the campaign. Uber’s own newsroom announcement is the primary source for the campaign’s title, cast, timing, message, and Las Vegas activation; the agency attribution comes from industry coverage.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the Aniston and Schwimmer moment works
The scene is effective because it requires almost no explanation. Aniston and Schwimmer spent a decade associated with one of television’s most recognizable fictional relationships. The audience supplies the missing context instantly: these are the actors who played Rachel and Ross, so a joke in which one appears not to recognize the other creates an immediate comic contradiction.

The Beckhams’ Spice Girls reference, Jelly Roll’s tattoos, and Usher’s halftime appearance are all pieces of information viewers are expected to know. The campaign turns celebrity recognition into the mechanism for selling a less obvious product message: Uber Eats can be used for a wide range of items, not just meals from restaurants.

The original online pre-release cut included a peanut-allergy joke. After criticism from food-allergy organizations, Uber removed that reference before the broad Super Bowl television airing.
The Bottom Line
The Aniston–Schwimmer scene is a Friends-based advertising joke, not a new episode or formal reunion. Uber Eats’ “Don’t Forget Uber Eats” campaign used that nostalgia alongside Beckham, Jelly Roll, and Usher cameos to promote delivery of “almost, almost anything.” The original online cut also differed from the Super Bowl broadcast version because Uber removed a criticized peanut-allergy scene.
