The current official Disney roster for Avengers: Doomsday names 30 performers when each name on the studio’s cast page is counted individually. The ensemble brings together established MCU characters, the Fantastic Four, the Thunderbolts, and legacy Fox-era X-Men performers.
One casting detail matters especially: Robert Downey Jr. is returning as Victor von Doom, not Tony Stark or Iron Man. Chris Evans is also back as Steve Rogers, although the film’s exact treatment of that character has not been revealed. Disney lists the U.S. theatrical release date as December 18, 2026, with Anthony and Joe Russo directing and Stephen McFeely writing. Disney’s official film page is the current reference point for the studio’s published roster.
Some coverage refers to a 29-name official list because earlier announcement snapshots and later additions have been counted differently. To avoid dropping a performer, the list below follows every name currently displayed on Disney’s page and then separates later or supplementary confirmations.

The official Avengers: Doomsday cast list
The following groupings describe the performers’ best-known Marvel roles. The studio page itself is a cast roster rather than a full character guide, and it does not establish screen time, plot outcomes, variants, or character relationships.
Established MCU heroes and characters
- Robert Downey Jr. — Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom. Downey is returning to Marvel in a new role as the film’s central villain rather than reprising Tony Stark. Marvel and trade reporting announced the role separately from the original ensemble reveal. Variety’s cast report distinguishes Downey’s Doctor Doom casting from his earlier Iron Man role.
- Chris Evans — Steve Rogers. Evans’ return was confirmed after the first group announcement. Current reporting identifies the character as Steve Rogers/Captain America, but whether this version is the same Steve Rogers seen at the end of Avengers: Endgame, a variant, or part of a different story arrangement remains undisclosed.
- Chris Hemsworth — Thor. Hemsworth returns as the Asgardian hero and one of the MCU’s longest-serving Avengers.
- Anthony Mackie — Sam Wilson/Captain America. Mackie plays the current Captain America, having taken up the shield after Steve Rogers.
- Danny Ramirez — Joaquin Torres/Falcon. Ramirez returns as Joaquin Torres, the newer Falcon associated with Sam Wilson’s Captain America.
- Sebastian Stan — Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier. Stan reprises Bucky Barnes, a character whose history connects the original Captain America era with the modern MCU.
- Paul Rudd — Scott Lang/Ant-Man. Rudd returns as the size-changing Avenger Scott Lang.
- Tom Hiddleston — Loki. Hiddleston is included as Loki. The cast listing does not specify which version or status of the character will appear.
- Letitia Wright — Shuri/Black Panther. Wright returns as Shuri, who assumed the Black Panther mantle in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
- Winston Duke — M’Baku. Duke reprises the Wakandan leader from the Black Panther films.
- Simu Liu — Shang-Chi. Liu returns as the hero introduced in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
- Tenoch Huerta Mejía — Namor. Huerta Mejía returns as the Talokanil ruler introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
- Mabel Cadena — Namora. Cadena is included on Disney’s current cast page as part of the Talokan-related contingent.
- Kathryn Newton — Cassie Lang. Newton returns as Scott Lang’s daughter after playing Cassie in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Her return was reported in April 2026 and is now reflected on Disney’s cast page. TheWrap reported Newton’s confirmation.
The Fantastic Four
The new Fantastic Four ensemble joins the crossover as the same principal screen team from The Fantastic Four: First Steps:
- Pedro Pascal — Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic. Pascal returns as the brilliant scientist and leader of the Fantastic Four.
- Vanessa Kirby — Sue Storm/Invisible Woman. Kirby reprises Sue Storm, the team’s force-field and invisibility-powered member.
- Joseph Quinn — Johnny Storm/Human Torch. Quinn returns as Sue’s brother and the Human Torch.
- Ebon Moss-Bachrach — Ben Grimm/The Thing. Moss-Bachrach reprises Ben Grimm, Reed’s longtime friend who becomes the super-powered Thing.
Thunderbolts characters
Several members of the morally complicated government-linked team from Thunderbolts are also on the official roster:
Rank #2
- Florence Pugh — Yelena Belova. Pugh returns as the former Black Widow operative after Black Widow and Thunderbolts.
- David Harbour — Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian. Harbour reprises the Russian super-soldier and Yelena’s adoptive father figure.
- Wyatt Russell — John Walker/U.S. Agent. Russell returns as the former Captain America successor and government operative.
- Hannah John-Kamen — Ava Starr/Ghost. John-Kamen reprises Ghost, the phase-shifting character introduced in Ant-Man and the Wasp.
- Lewis Pullman — Bob/Sentry. Pullman is listed following his role in Thunderbolts. The official cast material does not establish how prominent Bob will be in Doomsday or confirm his eventual fate.
Legacy Fox-era X-Men characters
The film’s most conspicuous multiverse-related casting is the return of performers associated with the earlier Fox X-Men films. Their inclusion confirms that these actors are part of the project; it does not, by itself, explain how the characters fit into the MCU’s continuity.
- Patrick Stewart — Charles Xavier/Professor X. Stewart returns to the role of the telepathic X-Men leader.
- Ian McKellen — Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto. McKellen reprises Magneto.
- Kelsey Grammer — Hank McCoy/Beast. Grammer returns as Beast, following his earlier X-Men appearance and his later MCU appearance in The Marvels.
- Alan Cumming — Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler. Cumming returns as Nightcrawler, the teleporting mutant he played in X2.
- James Marsden — Scott Summers/Cyclops. Marsden reprises Cyclops.
- Rebecca Romijn — Raven Darkhölme/Mystique. Romijn returns to the role she originated in the earlier X-Men films.
- Channing Tatum — Gambit. Tatum’s return follows his appearance as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Who was announced later?
Hayley Atwell — Peggy Carter
Hayley Atwell was publicly confirmed at Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con presentation on July 25–26, 2026 as a returning Peggy Carter. However, she is not included in the current Disney cast-page roster used for the 30-name list above. She is therefore best described as a later-confirmed addition, rather than silently added to the number printed on Disney’s page. ComicBook’s report on the additional confirmation covers the announcement.
India Rose Hemsworth — Love
India Rose Hemsworth is associated with the role of Love in industry databases and reporting connected to Thor-focused promotional material. Because Disney’s current cast page does not list her, she should be treated as a supplementary cast credit, not as one of the studio page’s named performers. Her appearance, billing, and importance in the finished film should not be overstated.
Why the cast total has changed
The first major cast reveal in March 2025 publicly introduced 27 actors. That announcement covered the core MCU returns, the Fantastic Four ensemble, the Thunderbolts group, Shang-Chi, Namor, and the returning Fox-era X-Men actors. Downey’s Doctor Doom casting had been announced separately, while Evans’ return was confirmed afterward. Variety’s account of the announcement and The Associated Press coverage document that earlier stage of the casting process.
Later updates, including Newton’s confirmation, the current Disney roster, and Atwell’s separate presentation announcement, mean that a headline based on the original reveal may no longer represent the complete available information. The safest way to read the roster is to distinguish between:

Who is not officially confirmed?
The available official and reputable trade material does not confirm the following rumored or frequently speculated appearances:
Rank #4
- Captain America: Civil War (2016)
- Doctor Strange (2016)
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
- Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
- Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
- Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
- Hugh Jackman as Wolverine
- Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool
- Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange
- Mark Ruffalo as Hulk
- Brie Larson as Captain Marvel
- Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye
Holland, Jackman, and Reynolds were notably absent from the original 27-name announcement, and their absence should not be converted into either a confirmed cameo or a definitive statement that they will not appear. The same standard applies to the other names above: until Marvel, Disney, or a reliable production report confirms them, they remain unconfirmed. Fan posters, database edits, social-media claims, and assumed multiverse pairings are not evidence of casting.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the announced ensemble tells us—and what it does not
The roster clearly positions Avengers: Doomsday as a large crossover involving current MCU heroes, the Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts characters, and legacy Fox X-Men performers. That combination strongly supports the film’s multiverse-crossover framing.
It does not establish who will share scenes, which characters are variants, how the Fox continuity connects to the MCU, or whether every listed performer has a major part. The cast announcement also does not confirm character deaths, the film’s final Avengers lineup, Doctor Doom’s exact plan, or the presence of any unlisted hero. Those details should be treated as speculation until Disney releases them.

The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Disney’s current page names 30 performers for Avengers: Doomsday when counted individually, with Hayley Atwell separately confirmed later as Peggy Carter. Robert Downey Jr. is Doctor Doom—not Iron Man—and the widely rumored returns of Spider-Man, Wolverine, Deadpool, Doctor Strange, Hulk, Captain Marvel, and Hawkeye remain officially unconfirmed.
