Why McMahon is no longer running WWE or TKO
McMahon’s professional separation from WWE and TKO followed his resignation from TKO in January 2024, amid allegations made by Janel Grant. In January 2025, the Securities and Exchange Commission referred to him as WWE’s former executive chairman and CEO.
TKO’s latest disclosed director election provides an additional check on his status. The company’s June 10, 2026 annual-meeting filing listed 12 elected directors, and McMahon was not among them. Based on that filing, he does not hold a current TKO board seat.
This does not answer every question about his personal finances or any remaining investment interests. It does establish that he should not be described as TKO’s current chair, director, or chief executive.
Where does Vince McMahon live?
His current residence has not been reliably established in public reporting. Alpha Entertainment’s official website gives the company a Stamford, Connecticut business address and identifies McMahon as its founder. However, the page is visibly outdated: it still calls him WWE chairman and CEO and includes terms last updated in 2018. A company address therefore cannot be treated as McMahon’s home address.

There are two recent clues about his whereabouts, but neither proves where he lives today:
- Connecticut crash: Associated Press reported that McMahon was involved in a Connecticut automobile crash in July 2025. Police video released in February 2026 showed him rear-ending another vehicle while he was being followed by a state trooper. This establishes that he was in Connecticut at that time, not that Connecticut is his current residence.
- Family update: TMZ reported in June 2025 that Shane McMahon said his father was doing “really well” and “enjoying life.” The report also characterized Vince McMahon as rarely seen in public. That is a statement from a family member, not independent verification of McMahon’s health, home, or daily schedule.
Accordingly, claims that McMahon is definitely “living in Stamford” go beyond the available evidence. The same caution applies to claims about his health: the public update from Shane McMahon does not establish a diagnosis or provide a detailed medical account.
What business is Vince McMahon involved in now?
Alpha Entertainment
McMahon established and personally funded Alpha Entertainment in 2017. The company’s official website links the entity historically to the XFL and identifies McMahon as its founder.

What the website does not establish is equally important. The researched official material does not confirm that Alpha is currently operating a new football league, film company, wrestling promotion, or other announced venture. Nor does it confirm a new company that McMahon is actively running day to day.
The 2025 TKO share sale
The clearest recent business development was a sale of TKO stock. Under a June 3, 2025 agreement, Endeavor Operating Company purchased 1,579,080 TKO Class A shares from McMahon at $158.32 per share. The aggregate consideration was approximately $250 million—almost exactly $250 million before rounding.
The transaction shows that McMahon continued to monetize part of his TKO investment after leaving the company’s leadership. It does not establish that:
- he sold all of his TKO shares;
- he has completely exited TKO’s ownership structure;
- he plans to buy back WWE;
- he is preparing a new wrestling promotion; or
- he has relaunched the XFL.
No primary filing or official announcement located in this research confirms any of those comeback scenarios.
What happened to the Janel Grant lawsuit?
Janel Grant filed a federal lawsuit against WWE, Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis on January 25, 2024. The complaint made serious allegations, but allegations in a complaint are not findings of fact.
A 2025 federal court memorandum described the procedural history. The defendants had sought to compel arbitration, the case had been stayed, and Grant was permitted to amend her complaint. The memorandum addressed those procedural issues; it did not decide whether the allegations were true or false.
From federal court to private arbitration
By July 2026, Grant, WWE, and McMahon had agreed to move the dispute into private arbitration. A July 21 status report reproduced in court coverage stated that the parties had executed an arbitration agreement and that the federal action would be dismissed with prejudice, while preserving the parties’ ability to pursue claims and defenses in arbitration.

Subsequent reporting said the federal court closed the case on July 27, 2026. The final dismissal order was not exposed in the publicly accessible primary docket material located during this research pass, so that date is best attributed to court-reporting coverage rather than presented as a directly reviewed order.
In practical terms, the public federal lawsuit is no longer proceeding as an ordinary federal trial. The dispute, if it continues, is in private arbitration. “Dismissed with prejudice” in this context does not mean a judge ruled that Grant’s allegations were true, and it does not mean a judge ruled that they were false. No public merits judgment was located.

The SEC case is separate from the Grant dispute
On January 10, 2025, the SEC announced settled charges concerning two settlement agreements McMahon signed in 2019 and 2022 without disclosing them to WWE’s board, legal department, accounting personnel, or auditor.
According to the SEC’s order, the agreements required payments of $3 million and $7.5 million. The SEC said the nondisclosure caused material misstatements in WWE’s 2018 and 2021 financial statements. The order found violations involving internal accounting controls, misleading statements to WWE’s auditor, and WWE’s reporting and books-and-records provisions.
McMahon consented to the SEC order without admitting or denying the findings. He agreed to:
- cease and desist from future violations;
- pay a $400,000 civil penalty; and
- reimburse WWE $1,330,915.90 under Section 304(a) of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
This was a civil SEC enforcement matter. It should not be described as a criminal conviction. It is also distinct from the unresolved private claims asserted in Grant’s lawsuit. The SEC order addressed disclosure, accounting, and reporting conduct; it did not decide the truth of the allegations in the Grant complaint.

Was Vince McMahon criminally charged?
Federal law enforcement reportedly investigated matters connected to McMahon, including the handling of settlement agreements. However, the official sources reviewed for this update did not contain a current Department of Justice announcement or indictment naming him.
The careful answer is therefore neither “McMahon was criminally charged” nor “McMahon was cleared.” The available research does not support either broad statement. Criminal liability would require a specific official charging document or court record, and no such current source was located here.
What can the Mr. McMahon documentary tell you?
Netflix’s official listing describes Mr. McMahon as a six-part limited documentary series released in 2024.
