Yes—Jimmy Kimmel Live! is still an ABC weeknight program as of Wednesday, August 12, 2026. ABC’s current program information lists the show at 11:35 p.m. Eastern / 10:35 p.m. Central. But that does not guarantee that every viewer will see it tonight: local ABC schedules, breaking-news or sports preemptions, time zones, and streaming-provider coverage can all change what appears on your screen.
The “not coming back for everyone” concern largely comes from a temporary affiliate blackout in September 2025. That dispute ended, and it should not be mistaken for evidence of a current nationwide ABC blackout. Here is the most reliable way to check your market before the broadcast.
Is Jimmy Kimmel Live! on tonight?
The show remains scheduled on ABC in August 2026, and ABC’s published material lists its regular time as 11:35 p.m. Eastern and 10:35 p.m. Central. ABC’s August 3–7 schedule also showed the program continuing with episodes and guest hosts during the summer.
However, the available official schedule information does not confirm whether the August 12 broadcast is a new episode or a repeat, nor does it establish that every local affiliate will carry it at the same time. Your local station’s guide is the final authority for tonight.

In Mountain and Pacific time, the local listing may display a different clock time depending on the station’s schedule. Look for the program by title rather than relying only on a national time conversion.
Why some viewers thought the show was gone
In September 2025, ABC briefly suspended production after controversy surrounding one of Kimmel’s monologues. ABC announced on September 22 that the show would return, but two large station groups—Nexstar and Sinclair—initially said that many of their ABC affiliates would continue preempting it.
That created a genuine “not everywhere” problem. Viewers in affected markets could see local programming instead of the ABC broadcast even though the network had brought the show back.
The situation did not last. On September 26, Nexstar and Sinclair announced that their ABC affiliates would resume airing Jimmy Kimmel Live! that evening. Associated Press reporting described the blackout as lasting just over a week and affecting dozens of local markets.
That history explains headlines or social-media posts saying Kimmel was not returning for everyone. It does not show that ABC is currently blocking the program nationwide in August 2026. A local station can still preempt a late-night show for breaking news, sports, special programming, technical issues, or another scheduling decision.

How to check whether your local ABC station is carrying it
1. Check the local affiliate’s guide
Search for your local ABC station by city or call letters and inspect the listing around 11:35 p.m. local time. The station’s own electronic program guide is more useful than a national entertainment listing because it reflects local preemptions and delays.
ABC’s station-contact resources can help you identify the affiliate serving your area. Once you know the station, check its website, television guide, or listings from your cable, satellite, or live-TV provider.
Pay attention to labels such as new, repeat, delayed, or preempted. If another program is listed at 11:35 p.m., Kimmel may be delayed to a later time rather than canceled in your market.
2. Check ABC’s website or app
ABC provides show information and, where available, live-streaming and full-episode access through ABC.com and the ABC app. A successful sign-in with a participating TV provider may be required for protected live or on-demand content.
Availability depends on your location and provider. An ABC account or internet connection alone should not be treated as a guarantee that you can watch the live broadcast for free. Use the ABC listing and playback screen as a check for your market, and follow the sign-in instructions shown there.

3. Verify local ABC coverage before using a live-TV streaming service
Live-TV services can be useful for cord-cutters, but “ABC is included” does not necessarily mean that your local ABC affiliate is included. Local-channel carriage varies by market, and the available channel lineup can change.
If you are considering Hulu + Live TV or another live-TV service, enter your ZIP code before subscribing or starting a trial. Confirm that the service carries your local ABC station, not merely the ABC network in general. Also check whether the service’s live stream is available in your area at the time you need it.

4. Use an antenna if the broadcast signal reaches your home
An over-the-air antenna can receive a free local ABC broadcast without depending on cable, satellite, or streaming-provider carriage. Modern televisions commonly include digital tuners, so many viewers need only a compatible antenna and coaxial connection.
Reception is not guaranteed. Distance from the station, terrain, buildings, walls, antenna placement, and whether the station broadcasts on VHF or UHF can all matter. The Federal Trade Commission explains the basic requirements for receiving free local television, while FCC guidance notes that local signal conditions and antenna characteristics affect performance.

Before buying, check which ABC affiliate serves your address and whether its signal is predicted to reach your area. After connecting the antenna, run the television’s channel scan again. If reception is weak, try moving the antenna near a window or higher location, but do not assume that a more expensive model will overcome every terrain or building problem.
For viewers who have confirmed local coverage, an indoor TV antenna for local broadcast channels may be the simplest fallback when the local station is not available through a streaming package. It is not a universal fix, and readers should check local signal conditions first.
5. Use YouTube for clips, not as a guaranteed full broadcast
The official Jimmy Kimmel Live! YouTube channel publishes monologue clips, interviews, and other segments. It is a useful destination if you missed a segment or want highlights.
It should not be treated as proof that the complete episode will be livestreamed there at the same time as the ABC broadcast. For the full program, check ABC or a live-TV provider that carries your local station.
A quick decision guide
| If you want to… | Best first check | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Watch the local broadcast tonight | Your local ABC affiliate’s guide | Breaking news, sports, delays, or repeats may change the listing. |
| Stream through an existing TV subscription | ABC.com or the ABC app | Full episodes and live streams may require participating-provider authentication. |
| Watch without cable | A live-TV service’s ZIP-code channel lookup | Local ABC carriage varies by market. |
| Receive ABC without a monthly TV subscription | Local signal coverage, then an antenna | Indoor reception depends on the home, location, terrain, and station. |
| Watch highlights | The official YouTube channel | Clips are not a guaranteed substitute for a complete live episode. |
What to do if ABC is missing from your guide
- Confirm the date and time zone. Late-night programming appears after midnight in some areas, and the local station may use a different schedule.
- Check the station’s own guide. Compare it with your cable, satellite, or streaming-provider listing.
- Look for a delay. A local news program or sports event may push Kimmel later rather than remove it entirely.
- Check ABC’s online availability. Sign in with a participating TV provider if the page requests authentication.
- Try a different reception route. If your provider does not carry the affiliate, check a ZIP-code-specific live-TV lineup or investigate antenna reception.
- Use YouTube for segments. This is the dependable option for clips, but not necessarily for the full episode.
Is the show expected to continue?
Available reporting indicates that Kimmel’s ABC contract was extended for one year in December 2025, keeping the program on ABC through the end of the 2026–27 television season. That supports describing the show as an ongoing ABC program in August 2026.
It still does not mean that every individual broadcast will be live, new, or carried without interruption in every market. Late-night schedules are particularly vulnerable to local delays and substitutions, so the local listing remains the practical answer for tonight.

Recommended Free Tools
Can I watch Jimmy Kimmel Live! without cable?
Possibly. Check ABC.com or the ABC app, verify a live-TV service’s local ABC coverage by ZIP code, or use an antenna if your home can receive the local ABC broadcast. Streaming access may require authentication, and antenna reception varies.
Does the official YouTube channel show the whole episode live?
The official channel is a source for clips and posted segments. Its existence does not guarantee a simultaneous livestream or a complete-episode replacement for the ABC broadcast.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Jimmy Kimmel Live! is still an ABC show, not the subject of a confirmed nationwide 2026 blackout. Before tonight’s broadcast, check your local ABC affiliate’s guide, then verify ABC.com or a ZIP-code-specific live-TV lineup. If you want a broadcast option independent of provider carriage, an antenna may work—but only if local signal conditions support it.
