Short answer: Spotify does not provide an official tool that exports songs as MP3 files. Spotify Premium can download music for offline playback inside the Spotify app, but those downloads are not ordinary MP3 files that you can copy to a USB drive, MP3 player, or another music app.
The search query “10 best free Spotify to MP3 converters” suggests that ten safe, lawful, currently working tools can be recommended. The available evidence does not support that conclusion. Third-party converter claims are volatile, Spotify’s guidelines prohibit copying or ripping its content unless permitted by an applicable agreement or law, and no trustworthy official directory of authorized Spotify-to-MP3 converters was identified.
The important distinction: offline Spotify downloads are not MP3 files
Spotify Premium’s offline feature is the official solution for listening without an internet connection. In the Spotify app, you can download supported albums, playlists, and podcasts for playback when you are offline. Spotify says Premium users can download up to 10,000 tracks on each of up to five devices, and each device must connect to the internet at least once every 30 days to retain its downloads. Free accounts can download podcasts, but not music.
These downloads remain managed by Spotify. They are not presented as transferable MP3 files, and Spotify does not document an MP3-export feature. In practical terms, downloading a playlist for offline use does not give you a folder of songs that can be dragged into another music player.

If your goal is simply to listen during a flight, commute, or period without reliable internet, Spotify Premium offline listening is the appropriate option. If your goal is to own portable, transferable files, you need music that is explicitly sold or licensed for download.
Why I cannot responsibly list 10 “working” converters
A converter may advertise that you can paste a Spotify link and receive an MP3. That claim alone does not establish that the service is:
- currently functional;
- authorized to copy the recording;
- safe to install or use;
- accurate about audio quality or metadata;
- free of account-stealing prompts, aggressive advertising, or unwanted software; or
- lawful for your country, the particular recording, and the intended use.
No converter was installed or technically tested for this article. It would therefore be misleading to name ten services as “working,” promise a bitrate, claim lossless output, or describe any particular site as malware-free. Converter lists also become stale quickly when a streaming service changes its application, authentication, playback, or content-protection systems.
There is a second problem beyond reliability. Spotify’s User Guidelines prohibit copying, reproducing, redistributing, “ripping,” recording, or transferring content unless the applicable agreements or law permit it. The guidelines also restrict reverse engineering, decompiling, disassembling, modifying, or creating substantially similar software, subject to applicable-law exceptions. Spotify reserves the ability to suspend or terminate accounts for violations.

That does not mean every conceivable recording or use case has the same legal result everywhere. Copyright exceptions differ by jurisdiction, and permission from a rights holder can change the analysis. It does mean that a general-purpose Spotify-ripping site should not be presented as a risk-free recommendation.
What Spotify officially supports
1. Premium downloads for offline playback
To use Spotify’s supported offline workflow:
- Open Spotify on a supported mobile or desktop device.
- Open the album, playlist, or other supported content you want available offline.
- Use the app’s Download control.
- Allow the download to finish while connected to the internet.
- Reconnect the device to the internet at least once every 30 days so Spotify can retain offline access.
The exact interface can change between app versions and devices. The key limitation does not: the result is app-managed offline playback, not an MP3 export.
Spotify’s Premium benefits page also describes lossless listening options for eligible Premium users where available. Higher playback quality still does not turn an offline cache into an unrestricted audio file.
2. Podcast downloads on a free account
Spotify says free accounts can download podcasts for offline listening, while music downloads require Premium. Podcast availability and download controls can vary by show and platform. These downloads are likewise intended for playback within Spotify, not conversion into transferable MP3 files.

3. Local files that you already own
Spotify has a separate Local Files feature for audio already stored lawfully on your device. This can be useful if you have purchased downloads, recordings you created yourself, or other files you are authorized to use.
Local Files works in the opposite direction from a Spotify converter: it helps Spotify play files that are already in your library. It does not extract Spotify’s catalog, bypass access controls, or create MP3 copies of streamed tracks.
Safer alternatives, depending on what you actually need
If you only need music without an internet connection
Use Spotify Premium offline listening. It avoids the need to trust an unknown converter and keeps the music inside the service’s supported playback system. Remember the five-device and 30-day reconnection limits, and do not expect the downloads to work in another app or on a generic MP3 player.
If you need transferable MP3 files
Look for licensed permanent music downloads from an established store, artist site, or label platform that explicitly describes the files as downloadable and transferable. Before buying, check:

- DRM: Can you play it on the devices and software you use?
- License: Does the purchase permit personal backup, transfer, or playback on your chosen devices?
- Regional availability: Is the release available in your country?
- Metadata: Are artwork, artist names, album names, and track numbers included?
A permanent download is not the same product as a Spotify subscription stream. The U.S. Copyright Office distinguishes streams, limited downloads, and permanent downloads within licensed digital-music systems. A service allowing temporary offline playback does not automatically give the subscriber ownership of a transferable file.
If you want to build a physical or personal music library
Lawfully purchased CDs and other physical releases can provide a durable personal library, subject to the copyright rules and license terms where you live. If you later make a personal copy, do not assume that the rules governing that copy also authorize distribution or sharing. Physical purchases are an alternative way to acquire music; they are not Spotify converters.
Security checklist: if you already tried a converter
Do not enter your Spotify password into an unfamiliar converter page. Do not install a “cracked Premium” application, modified Spotify client, unsigned desktop program, or browser extension merely because it promises MP3 downloads.

- Change your Spotify password from a trusted device, especially if you typed it into the third-party site. Use a unique password that you do not reuse elsewhere.
- Remove unknown third-party access. Spotify advises reviewing and removing third-party apps that may have access to your account if they could have been compromised. Use Spotify’s account and security controls rather than relying on the converter’s own account page.
- Uninstall suspicious software and extensions. Remove the program through your operating system’s normal application settings and delete unfamiliar browser extensions.
- Update your operating system and security software. Spotify recommends current operating systems and updated antivirus protection. Run a reputable security scan if you installed an unknown application.
- Check for symptoms. Watch for unexpected browser redirects, new startup programs, repeated login alerts, unusual system slowdown, or unfamiliar applications.
- Do not keep using the tool to “test” it. Repeated logins or downloads can increase both account and device risk.
For Windows users, a general Windows storage cleanup tool may be relevant only when the real problem is insufficient storage, application instability, privacy issues, or unwanted software left behind by a previously installed program. It is not a Spotify converter and should not be installed simply to obtain MP3 files.
