Luke Grimes leads Marshals as Kayce Dutton, who leaves the Yellowstone ranch behind to join an elite U.S. Marshals unit in Montana. The new CBS spinoff surrounds him with four principal team members played by Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, and Tatanka Means. Returning Yellowstone performers Mo Brings Plenty, Brecken Merrill, and Gil Birmingham also connect the law-enforcement drama to the original series.
The series premiered on CBS on March 1, 2026, with episodes available through Paramount+. Here is the confirmed Season 1 cast, the recurring performers, the returning characters, and what is currently known about Season 2.
The principal cast of Marshals
The core ensemble consists of five members of the Montana marshal unit. Kayce Dutton is the link to Yellowstone, while the other four principal performers are new additions to the franchise.
| Actor | Character | Role in the series |
|---|---|---|
| Luke Grimes | Kayce Dutton | The lead character and a former member of the Dutton family ranch operation who joins an elite U.S. Marshals team. |
| Logan Marshall-Green | Pete Calvin | A key member of Kayce’s marshal team and one of the show’s principal new characters. |
| Arielle Kebbel | Belle Skinner | One of Kayce’s teammates in the Montana unit. |
| Ash Santos | Andrea Cruz | A member of the marshal team working cases across Montana. |
| Tatanka Means | Miles Kittle | A marshal whose connection to Broken Rock broadens the show’s ties to the Montana setting. |
The official series description specifically identifies Kayce, Pete, Belle, Andrea, and Miles as the central five-person unit. That distinction matters: Marshals is not simply a continuation of the entire Dutton family story. It is a case-driven law-enforcement series built around Kayce and a mostly new professional ensemble.

Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton
Luke Grimes returns as Kayce Dutton, the former U.S. Navy SEAL and youngest son of John Dutton from Yellowstone. In Marshals, Kayce has moved away from ranch life and joined an elite U.S. Marshals division operating in Montana.
That change gives the spinoff a different engine from its predecessor. Instead of centering primarily on ranch ownership, family succession, and land disputes, the new series follows Kayce and his colleagues as they pursue fugitives and investigate threats that can involve trafficking, organized crime, and conflicts affecting Broken Rock. The show’s official description frames that approach as bringing “range justice” to Montana.
Logan Marshall-Green as Pete Calvin
Logan Marshall-Green plays Pete Calvin, one of the principal members of Kayce’s new team. Pete is a new character in the Yellowstone universe rather than a returning figure from the original series.
His role helps establish the professional relationships at the center of Marshals. The series pairs Kayce’s personal history and knowledge of Montana with teammates whose identities are defined by the marshal unit rather than the Dutton ranch.

Arielle Kebbel plays Belle Skinner, another member of the Montana marshal team. Like Pete Calvin, Belle is a principal newcomer introduced through the spinoff’s law-enforcement premise.
Her inclusion reinforces that Marshals is designed as an ensemble rather than a solo continuation of Kayce’s story. The official cast material lists Kebbel among the series performers, but does not describe Belle as a returning Yellowstone character.
Ash Santos as Andrea Cruz
Ash Santos plays Andrea Cruz, a member of the same Montana unit. Andrea is part of the central group named in the show’s official series description, alongside Kayce, Pete, Belle, and Miles.
For viewers coming from Yellowstone, Andrea represents one of the new relationships and investigative perspectives that the spinoff adds to Kayce’s world.

Tatanka Means as Miles Kittle
Tatanka Means plays Miles Kittle. Miles is part of the core marshal team, but his character also provides a connection between the unit and Broken Rock, an important community in the wider Yellowstone setting.
That connection allows Marshals to preserve some of the original franchise’s geographic and political continuity while moving its weekly focus toward federal law enforcement.
Returning Yellowstone cast members
Four performers from Yellowstone are confirmed in the Marshals cast listings reviewed for Season 1: Luke Grimes, Mo Brings Plenty, Brecken Merrill, and Gil Birmingham. Grimes is the lead; the other three return in supporting roles connected to Kayce, the Dutton family, and Broken Rock.
Mo Brings Plenty as Mo
Mo Brings Plenty reprises his role as Mo. In the original series, Mo is closely associated with Thomas Rainwater and the Broken Rock community. His return preserves one of the most recognizable links between the two shows.

Brecken Merrill returns as Tate Dutton, Kayce’s son. Tate keeps the Dutton family thread present even as the spinoff shifts Kayce’s day-to-day life from the ranch to the marshal unit.
Paramount+’s cast material identifies Kayce and Tate as returning series regulars. Tate’s presence is therefore more than a passing reference to the original show.
Gil Birmingham as Thomas Rainwater
Gil Birmingham reprises Thomas Rainwater, the leader associated with Broken Rock and one of the central political figures in Yellowstone. Rainwater’s continuing role gives Marshals a direct route back to the original series’ conflicts and relationships without requiring every Dutton character to return.
Recurring and notable Season 1 cast
The following performers appear in recurring or notable Season 1 credits. They should not be confused with the five principal members of Kayce’s marshal unit or with the confirmed returning Yellowstone performers.
Rank #3
| Actor | Character | Season 1 status |
|---|---|---|
| Brett Cullen | Harry Gifford | Recurring performer; head of Montana’s U.S. Marshals division. |
| Morgan Lindholm | Maddie Calvin | Credited recurring performer with nine Season 1 episodes listed. |
| Whitney Palmer | Eve | Credited recurring performer with six episodes listed. |
| Ellyn Jameson | Dolly Weaver | Credited performer with five episodes listed. |
| Michael Cudlitz | Randall Clegg | Credited performer with four episodes listed. |
| Riley Green | Garrett | Four-episode guest arc as a former Navy SEAL teammate of Kayce and Pete. |
| Chris Mulkey | Tom Weaver | Credited performer with four episodes listed. |
| Eddie Aguirre | Jared | Credited Season 1 performer. |
| Channing Wilson | Musician | Credited Season 1 performer. |
Brett Cullen’s Harry Gifford is particularly important to the structure of the new show because he heads Montana’s U.S. Marshals division. Riley Green’s casting also drew separate attention: the country singer’s role as Garrett was reported as his acting debut, and the character arrives in a limited four-episode arc rather than as a permanent replacement for one of the core cast members.
Is Kelsey Asbille returning as Monica Dutton?
Kelsey Asbille was not announced as part of the confirmed Marshals cast listings reviewed. Asbille played Monica Dutton in Yellowstone, but the available official cast information does not establish that she is joining the spinoff.
That is narrower—and more accurate—than saying Monica can never appear. Other Dutton family members may be mentioned, but the official guide used for the first season did not list Asbille among the confirmed performers. Reports and episode-specific plot claims should therefore be treated separately from the confirmed cast announcement.
How Marshals changes the Yellowstone formula
The cast makes the creative direction clear. Grimes, Merrill, Brings Plenty, and Birmingham carry forward the franchise’s established relationships, while Marshall-Green, Kebbel, Santos, and Means form the new professional world around Kayce.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The result is a hybrid of Western family drama and procedural crime series. Episodes follow the marshal unit through cases involving fugitives, trafficking investigations, organized crime, and disputes that affect Broken Rock. Kayce’s knowledge of the region remains central, but his authority now comes from federal law enforcement rather than his position within the Dutton ranch.
That structure also explains why the full Yellowstone cast is not returning. Marshals uses selected continuity—especially Kayce, Tate, Rainwater, and Mo—while building a separate ensemble with its own chain of command and case narratives.
