This is a U.S. weekend guide for September 26–28, 2025. The strongest complete binge options are House of Guinness, Wayward, Hotel Costiera, Marvel Zombies, English Teacher season 2 and Alice in Borderland season 3. For a single movie, choose according to mood: All of You for romance, Karate Kid: Legends for franchise-friendly family viewing, Ballerina for adult action or Ruth & Boaz for a faith-centered romance.
There is one important catch: not everything in this list is included with a subscription or available to binge in full. Slow Horses season 5 and The Lowdown were still releasing weekly, while The Fantastic Four: First Steps was available as a separate digital purchase rather than through Disney+.
This roundup is an archival guide to that 2025 weekend. Streaming catalogs, subscription access and release rights can change. The original Tom’s Guide article has “12” in its URL, but its headline and body contain 13 selections.
Quick picks for the weekend
- Best complete historical binge: House of Guinness — eight episodes on Netflix.
- Best short binge: Marvel Zombies — all four episodes were available on Disney+, but the TV-MA rating makes it a choice for adults.
- Best full-season thriller: Wayward — an eight-episode Netflix limited series starring Mae Martin and Toni Collette.
- Best one-movie romance: All of You — included with Apple TV+.
- Best family-oriented option: Karate Kid: Legends — on Netflix, although its PG-13 rating means it is not aimed at very young children.
- Best adult action movie: Ballerina — streaming on Starz during the weekend.
- Best franchise purchase: The Fantastic Four: First Steps — available to buy digitally, not included with a Disney+ subscription.
At-a-glance: what was available Sept. 26–28, 2025?
The table separates full-season drops from weekly releases and subscription streaming from digital purchase. “Included” means included in the relevant U.S. service subscription at the time; plans and territories can differ.

Complete TV binges
House of Guinness — Netflix
Release: September 25, 2025. Episodes: eight, all available. Rating: TV-MA in the U.S.
Steven Knight’s historical drama begins after the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness and follows the family, its fortune and its internal conflicts in 19th-century Dublin. Netflix describes it as an eight-episode drama; its official Tudum guide provides the release and premise details.
This is the best choice here for viewers who want a substantial, traditional weekend drama rather than a single high-concept hook. It has the scope of a family saga, but it should be watched as dramatized historical fiction—not as a documentary or a literal record of every Guinness family event.
Choose it if: you like period settings, wealthy families, succession disputes and prestige drama. Skip it if: you want a short commitment or a light, contemporary comedy.

Release: available in the U.S. by September 24, 2025. Episodes: six, all available. Access: included with Prime Video for eligible subscribers.
Jesse Williams plays Daniel De Luca, a former U.S. Marine working as a fixer at a luxury hotel on Italy’s Amalfi Coast. His job becomes more serious when he searches for a missing woman. Amazon’s announcement confirmed the six-episode full-season release and U.S. availability.
Among the complete seasons, this is the most overtly escapist option: an attractive international setting, hotel intrigue, action and a central mystery. It is a good alternative when a heavy historical drama or disturbing thriller feels like too much work.
Choose it if: you want a compact action-adventure season with a vacation setting. Prior viewing: none.

Release: September 25, 2025. Episodes: eight, all available. Format: limited series.
Created by and starring Mae Martin, Wayward follows a police officer, a secretive institution for “troubled teens” and the academy’s founder, played by Toni Collette. Netflix’s official guide identifies the eight-episode premise and cast, while About Netflix describes it as a Canadian limited series.
This is the strongest choice for viewers who want a complete story with a darker psychological edge. The institution’s coercive practices and the treatment of vulnerable teenagers make it disturbing, so it is not a casual family binge. The limited-series format also gives the weekend a clear endpoint instead of asking you to commit to another ongoing franchise.
Choose it if: you want a twisty, unsettling thriller. Content note: expect disturbing material involving a troubled-teen institution, coercion and psychological distress.
Marvel Zombies — Disney+
Release: September 24, 2025. Episodes: four, all available. Rating: TV-MA.
Marvel Zombies follows survivors in a world where Marvel heroes have become zombies. Marvel calls it a four-part animated series and its first TV-MA animated production. The Marvel behind-the-scenes feature confirms the episode count, release and mature classification.
With only four episodes, this is the clearest short binge on the list. It benefits from familiarity with Marvel characters, but the basic zombie-survival premise is easy to understand. The TV-MA rating is not decorative: this is superhero horror for mature viewers, with violent and disturbing material rather than children’s animation.
Choose it if: you want the fastest complete series here and enjoy alternate-universe Marvel stories. Skip it if: you are looking for an all-ages animated show.

English Teacher season 2 — FX/Hulu
Release: FX premiered three episodes on September 25; all 10 episodes were available on Hulu beginning September 26. Access: the full season was a Hulu binge, even though the linear FX rollout was staggered.
Brian Jordan Alvarez returns as Evan Marquez, a teacher navigating the contradictions and conflicts of a contemporary Austin school. The FX show page, Hulu episode listing and TVLine’s release schedule distinguish the three-episode FX premiere from Hulu’s complete-season availability.
This is the most straightforward long-form comedy binge in the roundup. Viewers using FX alone would not have had the entire season at once, but Hulu subscribers could watch all 10 episodes over the weekend.
Choose it if: you want an adult workplace comedy with a school setting. Content note: the humor and subject matter are aimed at adults; check the current Hulu listing for the applicable U.S. rating.
Alice in Borderland season 3 — Netflix
Release: September 25, 2025. Episodes: six, all available.
Netflix’s Japanese survival thriller returns with Arisu pulled back into the Borderland after Usagi disappears. The Netflix Tudum season guide confirms the six-episode release and the season’s central setup.
This is a complete binge, but not a beginner’s recommendation. The returning relationships, rules and emotional stakes depend heavily on the first two seasons. It is also a poor fit for viewers avoiding violence: the series centers on lethal games and psychological distress.
Choose it if: you have already watched the first two seasons and want a high-stakes international thriller. Start elsewhere if: you need a self-contained story.

Slow Horses season 5 — Apple TV+
Release: September 24, 2025. Episodes: six, released weekly through October 29. Weekend status: only the first episode was available at the start of September 26–28.
The fifth season continues the Jackson Lamb and Slough House spy story and adapts Mick Herron’s novel London Rules. Apple’s official season announcement confirms the six-episode schedule and weekly rollout.
This belongs on a weekend watch list for fans who want to begin a returning spy drama—not for anyone specifically seeking a complete binge. You will need to know the characters and ongoing story from the earlier seasons, so it is best treated as a weekly appointment.
Choose it if: you already follow the series and enjoy cynical British espionage. Do not choose it if: your priority is having an entire season available immediately.

Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The Lowdown — FX/Hulu
Release: FX premiered the series on September 23, 2025. Weekend status: the first two episodes were released together, followed by weekly episodes. Hulu carried episodes after their FX broadcasts. The season contains eight episodes.
Ethan Hawke stars as Lee Raybon, a Tulsa citizen journalist and bookseller who becomes entangled in an investigation. The series comes from Sterlin Harjo. The FX series page supplies the premise and Hulu connection, while TheWrap’s schedule confirms the September 23 launch and weekly pattern.
The two-episode opening is enough to sample the noir atmosphere and investigative story, but it is not a full weekend binge. Its violence and adult crime-story material make it better suited to mature viewers.
Choose it if: you want a new noir series to follow week by week. Skip it if: you dislike starting unfinished seasons.

Movies included with a subscription
All of You — Apple TV+
Release: September 26, 2025. Access: included with Apple TV+ rather than requiring a separate digital purchase.
Brett Goldstein and Imogen Poots play longtime friends whose relationship is complicated by a test that claims to identify a person’s soulmate. Apple’s premiere announcement confirms the global Apple TV+ debut and the relationship-focused premise.
This is the cleanest recommendation for viewers who want one film rather than a multi-episode commitment. Its hook is less about spectacle than the long-term consequences of a supposedly scientific answer to romantic uncertainty.
Choose it if: you want a relationship drama or romantic science-fiction premise without an extra rental fee.
Ruth & Boaz — Netflix
Release: September 26, 2025. Runtime: 1:33:08. Rating: TV-14 in the U.S.
Serayah plays an Atlanta singer who leaves the music industry and starts over in Tennessee, where she develops a relationship with Boaz, played by Tyler Lepley. Netflix’s Tudum page identifies the cast, premise, release date, rating and runtime.
The film is aimed at viewers looking for a contemporary romance with a faith-centered framework. It is also one of the easiest choices for a defined movie-night slot because Netflix provides a runtime just under 90 minutes.
Choose it if: you want a gentle, faith-oriented romantic drama. Content note: it is rated TV-14, so parents should check the current profile and rating details before showing it to younger viewers.

Release: available on Netflix by the September 27 update; listings placed the U.S. streaming debut on September 26. Rating: PG-13.
Ben Wang plays Li Fong, a kung-fu prodigy, alongside Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio. The Netflix title page confirms the official title and PG-13 rating, while Sony Pictures provides the film’s official premise and cast. The September 26 streaming date comes from listings such as The Futon Critic, not an exposed original-release date on Netflix’s title page.
This is the clearest family-oriented pick in the roundup, though PG-13 means “family” should not be read as “for very young children.” It is designed to work as franchise entertainment, especially for viewers interested in seeing Chan and Macchio together, while introducing a new central martial-arts character.
Choose it if: you want accessible franchise action and a movie suitable for a mixed-age household that is comfortable with PG-13 material.

Release: available on Starz during the September 26–28 weekend. Access: requires Starz or a qualifying Starz channel subscription.
Ana de Armas plays Eve Macarro, a trained assassin seeking revenge in this John Wick spinoff. The Starz title page confirms its availability and premise.
There is a small date discrepancy in secondary coverage: one Tom’s Guide report gives September 25, while TechRadar gives September 26. The useful fact for this guide is that it was available on Starz during the weekend.
This is the most direct adult-action choice among the movies. It will make more sense to viewers familiar with the John Wick world, although the revenge setup gives it a standalone engine.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps — digital purchase
Digital release: September 23, 2025. Where to buy: Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home. Access: separate purchase; not included with a Disney+ subscription during this weekend.
The official title is The Fantastic Four: First Steps, not “The Fantastic Four: The First Steps.” Marvel’s digital-release announcement confirms the September 23 purchase release and participating stores.
This is the pick for viewers who want a new superhero event immediately and are willing to pay separately for it. It should not be presented simply as another subscription-streaming choice: buying a title through a digital storefront is a different access model from watching a film included in Netflix, Apple TV+ or Disney+.

Which titles can you actually binge?
| Release pattern | Titles | Weekend implication |
|---|---|---|
| Full season immediately | House of Guinness, Hotel Costiera, Wayward, Marvel Zombies, English Teacher season 2, Alice in Borderland season 3 | These can be watched from beginning to end without waiting for another episode. |
| Partial or weekly release | Slow Horses season 5, The Lowdown | Use these as shows to start, not complete-season binges. |
| Subscription movie premiere | All of You, Ruth & Boaz, Karate Kid: Legends, Ballerina | One film is available through the listed service, subject to the subscription and region. |
| Digital purchase | The Fantastic Four: First Steps | Requires a separate transaction on a digital storefront. |
Pick by viewer and available time
If you have time for only one movie
- Romance: All of You.
- Faith-centered romance: Ruth & Boaz.
- Family-oriented franchise action: Karate Kid: Legends.
- Adult revenge action: Ballerina.
- Superhero spectacle: The Fantastic Four: First Steps, if you are willing to buy it.
If you want the shortest complete series
Start with Marvel Zombies. It has four episodes and was released all at once. The TV-MA rating makes it suitable for mature viewers only.
If you want a substantial full-season commitment
House of Guinness and Wayward each have eight episodes and were complete on Netflix. English Teacher season 2 is the longest listed complete season by episode count, with all 10 episodes available on Hulu.
If you want to avoid paying extra
Choose a title included with a service you already pay for: Netflix’s complete series and movies, Apple TV+’s All of You, Disney+’s Marvel Zombies, Hulu’s complete English Teacher season or Prime Video’s Hotel Costiera. Ballerina is not free to general streaming subscribers; it requires Starz access. The Fantastic Four: First Steps required a separate digital purchase during the weekend.
If you do not want to watch earlier seasons
Choose Hotel Costiera, Wayward, House of Guinness, English Teacher season 2 if you are comfortable entering an established comedy, or one of the movies. Slow Horses season 5 and Alice in Borderland season 3 have the greatest dependence on previous episodes. Ballerina is also more rewarding if you know the John Wick universe. Marvel Zombies benefits from MCU familiarity, but its alternate-world premise is comparatively easy to follow.
Ratings and content guide
These classifications refer to the U.S. listings available in the source period. Ratings and warnings can differ by country, profile and platform.
- TV-MA: House of Guinness, Marvel Zombies, The Lowdown and the adult-oriented English Teacher. Marvel Zombies is specifically a mature animated horror series.
- TV-14: Ruth & Boaz.
- PG-13: Karate Kid: Legends; parents should not assume that its franchise branding makes it suitable for all children.
- Disturbing material: Wayward involves coercive and troubling practices at an institution for teenagers.
- Violence and psychological distress: Alice in Borderland centers on lethal games, while Ballerina is an adult revenge-action movie.
Access notes for U.S. viewers
This list reflects the U.S. release picture for September 26–28, 2025. Netflix, Apple TV+, Disney+ and Prime Video releases can have different dates, language options, ratings or catalog treatment in other countries. Hulu and FX access is especially market-specific, and Starz availability may depend on whether you subscribe directly or through a channel bundle.
For that reason, verify the title inside your own service before starting. A listing can show a title as available while your plan, country or add-on does not include it. The same caution applies to digital storefront purchases, whose prices and purchase rights are not permanent.

What year does “Sept. 26–28” refer to?
It refers to the weekend of September 26–28, 2025. This is an archival weekend guide, not a current 2026 recommendation list.
Which titles were full-season binges that weekend?
House of Guinness, Hotel Costiera, Wayward, Marvel Zombies, English Teacher season 2 and Alice in Borderland season 3 were available in full. Slow Horses season 5 and The Lowdown were still releasing weekly.
Was The Fantastic Four: First Steps included with Disney+?
No. During that weekend it was a premium digital purchase on services including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home. It was not being offered as a Disney+ subscription title.
What is the best family choice?
Karate Kid: Legends is the clearest family-oriented selection, but it is rated PG-13. Parents should check the current rating details and decide whether its action and themes are appropriate for their children.
Recommended Free Tools
Do I need to watch earlier installments?
Yes for the smoothest experience with Slow Horses season 5 and Alice in Borderland season 3. Ballerina is more rewarding if you know the John Wick universe, while Marvel Zombies benefits from MCU familiarity but is easier to enter on its own.
The Bottom Line
For a genuine weekend binge, start with Marvel Zombies if you want four mature animated episodes, Hotel Costiera for compact escapist action, or House of Guinness and Wayward for longer Netflix dramas. Choose All of You, Ruth & Boaz, Karate Kid: Legends or Ballerina for a single movie, remembering that Starz is required for Ballerina. If you pick Slow Horses or The Lowdown, go in expecting a weekly series—not a finished season—and treat The Fantastic Four: First Steps as a separate digital purchase.
