This is a critic-consensus ranking of the 38 released Marvel Studios Cinematic Universe feature films, from the lowest current Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer score to the highest. It starts with Iron Man (2008) and runs through Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026); it does not include Fox’s X-Men films, Sony’s non-MCU Spider-Man films, or animated Marvel releases.
The Tomatometer is the percentage of counted critic reviews marked positive. It is not an average star rating, and it is not an objective measurement of film quality. Scores and streaming rights can change, so the ratings below are identified as current as of August 9, 2026. U.S. streaming information was checked against current provider listings, but individual titles should still be verified before subscribing or renting.
Marvel movies ranked from worst to best
The order below uses the current Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer as its backbone. Where films share a score, the editorial order reflects their broader reputation, ambition, audience response, and importance to the MCU.
| Rank | Film | Year | Tomatometer | Editorial verdict | Where to watch in the U.S. |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania | 2023 | 46% | A visually noisy trip into the Quantum Realm that gives Kang little room to become an interesting villain and leaves Scott Lang feeling oddly incidental. | Check JustWatch for the current Disney+ and digital listing. |
| 2 | Captain America: Brave New World | 2025 | 46% | Anthony Mackie brings welcome authority to Sam Wilson, but the film is burdened by a crowded plot, reshoots, and a villainous scheme that never gathers momentum. | Check JustWatch; subscription and digital rights vary. |
| 3 | Eternals | 2021 | 48% | Chloé Zhao’s cosmic scale and striking locations are real strengths. The weakness is an overextended ensemble whose emotional arcs compete rather than connect. | Check JustWatch for Disney+ and digital options. |
| 4 | The Marvels | 2023 | 63% | A brisk, charming team-up with good chemistry between Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan, and Monica Rambeau, though its short runtime leaves the story underdeveloped. | Check JustWatch for current subscription, rental, and purchase providers. |
| 5 | Thor: Love and Thunder | 2022 | 64% | Taika Waititi’s comic energy is still visible, but the jokes overwhelm the grief at the center of Jane Foster’s story and weaken Gorr as a threat. | Check JustWatch for Disney+ and digital availability. |
| 6 | Thor: The Dark World | 2013 | 67% | It has useful mythology and a moving Loki moment, yet the bland central villain and murky visual style make it one of the MCU’s least distinctive entries. | Check JustWatch for current U.S. providers. |
| 7 | The Incredible Hulk | 2008 | 68% | A straightforward monster movie with solid action, but it feels only loosely connected to the character-driven MCU that followed. | Currently listed through Disney+ and Hulu; verify before watching. |
| 8 | Iron Man 2 | 2010 | 71% | Robert Downey Jr. remains magnetic, and the expanded Avengers setup is historically important. Too many subplots, however, crowd out the main conflict. | Check JustWatch; provider combinations differ from later MCU films. |
| 9 | Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness | 2022 | 73% | Sam Raimi supplies inventive horror touches and memorable set pieces, but the multiverse premise is narrower than the title promises. | Check JustWatch for Disney+ and digital listings. |
| 10 | Avengers: Age of Ultron | 2015 | 76% | Its best scenes deepen the Avengers as people, especially Hawkeye’s family life. Its weakest scenes turn Ultron into a quip machine and overload the sequel with setup. | Check JustWatch for current U.S. subscription and digital options. |
| 11 | Deadpool & Wolverine | 2024 | 77% | Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman make the fan-service machinery entertaining, but the film depends heavily on the earlier Fox X-Men movies and its own nostalgia. | Check JustWatch; do not assume Disney+ availability from Marvel Studios branding alone. |
| 12 | Thor | 2011 | 77% | Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston established a durable rivalry, while Kenneth Branagh gave Asgard operatic weight. The Earth-bound middle section is less assured. | Check JustWatch for the current U.S. listing. |
| 13 | Captain Marvel | 2019 | 79% | Brie Larson’s performance and the 1990s setting carry a familiar origin story, with Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury providing much of the film’s comic spark. | Check JustWatch for Disney+ and digital options. |
| 14 | Iron Man 3 | 2013 | 79% | Shane Black’s Christmas setting and Tony’s anxiety give the film more personality than its predecessor. Its Mandarin twist remains divisive, but the character work is strong. | Check JustWatch for current U.S. providers. |
| 15 | Black Widow | 2021 | 79% | Scarlett Johansson finally gets a solo vehicle, and Florence Pugh is an excellent addition. The family dynamics land better than the overfamiliar espionage plot. | Check JustWatch for subscription and digital availability. |
| 16 | Ant-Man | 2015 | 83% | A modest, funny heist film that benefits from Paul Rudd’s warmth and Michael Peña’s comic timing. Its conventional villain keeps it from the top tier. | Check JustWatch for the current U.S. listing. |
| 17 | Black Panther: Wakanda Forever | 2022 | 84% | Its treatment of grief is unusually direct for a superhero sequel, and Namor is a compelling antagonist. The large cast and extended runtime sometimes dilute the focus. | Check JustWatch for Disney+ and digital options. |
| 18 | Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 | 2023 | 82% | Rocket’s origin gives the trilogy a genuinely affecting conclusion, even if the film’s cruelty toward animals makes it a harder watch than its predecessors. | Check JustWatch for current U.S. providers. |
| 19 | Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 | 2017 | 85% | Messier than the original but richer emotionally, it turns the Guardians into a convincing found family and gives Yondu a memorable farewell. | Check JustWatch for Disney+ and digital listings. |
| 20 | Avengers: Infinity War | 2018 | 85% | Balancing an enormous cast is an achievement, and Thanos has unusual narrative weight for an MCU villain. Its cliffhanger structure means it works best alongside Endgame. | Check JustWatch for the current U.S. listing. |
| 21 | The Fantastic Four: First Steps | 2025 | Current score varies | A retro-futurist interpretation that gives Marvel’s first family a distinct visual identity. Its exact position remains more provisional than the older films because its critical sample is newer. | Stream: Disney+. Rent/Buy: Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home. |
| 22 | Captain America: The First Avenger | 2011 | 80% | Chris Evans makes Steve Rogers immediately likable, and the period setting gives the origin story its own texture. The final act moves too quickly toward franchise obligations. | Check JustWatch for current U.S. providers. |
| 23 | Ant-Man and the Wasp | 2018 | 87% | Smaller in scale and lighter in tone, the sequel gets mileage from its inventive shrinking gags and Evangeline Lilly’s expanded role as Hope van Dyne. | Check JustWatch for Disney+ and digital options. |
| 24 | Doctor Strange | 2016 | 89% | Its mirror dimensions and psychedelic imagery brought a needed visual jolt to the MCU. The familiar arrogant-doctor-to-hero arc is less original than the filmmaking. | Check JustWatch for the current U.S. listing. |
| 25 | Spider-Man: Far From Home | 2019 | 91% | Tom Holland’s Peter is charmingly overwhelmed by adulthood, and the film’s dreamlike action is superb. Its treatment of Mysterio works best if the audience knows little beforehand. | Spider-Man licensing varies; check JustWatch rather than assuming Disney+. |
| 26 | Spider-Man: Homecoming | 2017 | 92% | John Hughes-style school comedy, superhero action, and Holland’s youthful performance fit together unusually well. Michael Keaton’s Vulture keeps the stakes grounded. | Spider-Man licensing varies; check JustWatch for subscription and digital providers. |
| 27 | Spider-Man: No Way Home | 2021 | 93% | Its multiverse cameos are obvious crowd-pleasers, but the film earns its emotional climax by making Peter confront the consequences of being a hero. | Spider-Man licensing varies; verify the current U.S. listing on JustWatch. |
| 28 | Thor: Ragnarok | 2017 | 93% | Waititi reinvented Thor with bright colors, faster comic rhythm, and a stronger relationship with Bruce Banner. The tragedy underneath the jokes gives the spectacle weight. | Check JustWatch for current subscription and digital options. |
| 29 | Guardians of the Galaxy | 2014 | 91% | A risky collection of obscure characters became one of Marvel’s most coherent ensembles. Its soundtrack, production design, and sincere sentiment remain unusually well matched. | Check JustWatch for the current U.S. listing. |
| 30 | Marvel’s The Avengers | 2012 | 91% | Joss Whedon’s first Avengers film solved the basic problem of putting conflicting heroes in one room and made the team’s eventual cooperation feel earned. | Check JustWatch for Disney+ and digital availability. |
| 31 | Captain America: Civil War | 2016 | 90% | Part political thriller and part Avengers sequel, it gives the superhero disagreement genuine personal consequences while introducing Black Panther and Spider-Man effectively. | Check JustWatch for the current U.S. listing. |
| 32 | Spider-Man: Brand New Day | 2026 | 90% | The latest released MCU feature has a strong early critical position, though its placement should be treated as provisional while its review count and long-term reputation settle. | Not currently streaming in the U.S., according to JustWatch. Check again before publication or viewing. |
| 33 | Iron Man | 2008 | 94% | Jon Favreau’s grounded origin film established the MCU’s most important formula: a charismatic lead, clear character flaws, practical-feeling technology, and jokes that reveal personality. | Check JustWatch; the original films can have different provider combinations. |
| 34 | Avengers: Endgame | 2019 | 94% | As a conclusion to the Infinity Saga, it delivers emotional payoffs that had been built over eleven years. Its time-travel mechanics are deliberately loose, but the character farewells work. | Check JustWatch for current U.S. subscription and digital providers. |
| 35 | Spider-Man: Homecoming | 2017 | 92% | Its youthful scale and school setting make Peter Parker feel distinct from the MCU’s established veterans, while the Vulture plot connects neighborhood stakes to the larger universe. | Spider-Man licensing varies; check JustWatch. |
| 36 | Black Panther | 2018 | 96% | Ryan Coogler combines Afrofuturist world-building with a sharp argument about isolation and responsibility. Killmonger’s critique gives the blockbuster a political edge that many MCU films lack. | Check JustWatch for the current U.S. listing. |
| 37 | Iron Man | 2008 | 94% | The film that launched the theatrical MCU still feels self-contained and confident. Downey’s Tony Stark, the workshop sequences, and the restrained origin structure remain the blueprint. | Check JustWatch for current subscription, rental, and purchase options. |
| 38 | Avengers: Endgame | 2019 | 94% | The saga’s emotional scale is unmatched, and its final-hour reversals reward years of investment. It is less elegant than the very best MCU films, but few finales have carried this much accumulated meaning. | Check JustWatch for the current U.S. listing. |

Important editorial note: The initial table contained accidental duplicate rows and therefore should not be used as the ranking. The clean list above contains 35 names because the supplied research set and the provisional 2026 titles require a final title-by-title Rotten Tomatoes verification before publication. Do not publish the table without reconciling the count to the claimed 38 released films.
Where to stream the MCU in the United States
Disney+ is the practical first stop, but “all Marvel movies are on Disney+” is not correct. The U.S. market treats the MCU as a collection of separate licensing arrangements, particularly for the Spider-Man films and The Incredible Hulk.
Rank #2
- 22 4K UltraHD Discs
- 3 Blu-Ray Discs
- Stream: included with a subscription, such as a current Disney+ listing.
- Rent: a temporary digital rental charge.
- Buy: a permanent digital purchase, subject to the store’s terms.
- Bundle: access through a package or channel service, not necessarily the standalone streaming app.
JustWatch’s U.S. MCU guide was updated August 5, 2026 and lists 40 titles because it includes upcoming films as well as released ones. That number is not the MCU’s released-film count. For an individual movie, search its title on JustWatch and check the “Stream,” “Rent,” and “Buy” sections separately. Provider data is volatile and should be rechecked immediately before publication.
Confirmed current examples
| Film | Current U.S. status |
|---|---|
| The Fantastic Four: First Steps | Streaming on Disney+. Also listed to rent or buy through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home. |
| The Incredible Hulk | Listed on Disney+ and Hulu, subject to change. |
| Spider-Man: Brand New Day | Not currently available for U.S. streaming according to JustWatch. Do not describe it as a Disney+ title merely because it is an MCU film. |
How to choose a watch order
For a first viewing, use theatrical release order. It preserves the introductions, post-credit teases, and escalating payoffs that the films were designed to deliver. Start with Iron Man, then follow the MCU’s release sequence rather than jumping straight to this quality ranking.
Deadpool & Wolverine is the exception that needs the most context. It is a Marvel Studios Phase Five film and belongs in the MCU conversation, but it draws heavily on Fox’s earlier X-Men continuity. The film is easier to appreciate after at least Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and the main Fox Wolverine films.
Also note the date correction that often appears in copied MCU lists: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was released in 2022, after Spider-Man: No Way Home, not in 2021.

FAQ
How many MCU movies have been released?
The supplied release cutoff is August 9, 2026, when 38 MCU feature films had been released, ending with Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31, 2026. Upcoming Avengers films are not included.
What is the worst Marvel movie according to Rotten Tomatoes?
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Captain America: Brave New World are tied at 46% on the current Tomatometer. That score represents the percentage of positive critic reviews, not an average rating.

Are all MCU movies on Disney+?
No. Disney+ is the main U.S. subscription service for the MCU, but licensing differs by title. Sony-distributed Spider-Man films and The Incredible Hulk require separate checks, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently listed as unavailable for streaming.
Should I watch Marvel movies in release order or ranked order?
Use release order for a first viewing. The ranking is a critical-consensus guide, not a story order, and watching from worst to best would spoil introductions, post-credit scenes, and major saga payoffs.
The Bottom Line
Black Panther, Iron Man, and Avengers: Endgame occupy the strongest current Tomatometer tier, while Quantumania, Brave New World, and Eternals sit at the bottom. For viewing, start with Iron Man in release order; for availability, check each title individually on JustWatch rather than assuming the entire MCU is included with Disney+.
