Unexplained: Helen Duncan The Blitz Witch

Victoria Helen McCrae Duncan was a Scottish medium, best known as the last person to be imprisoned under the British Witchcraft Act of 1735. She was famous for producing ectoplasm made from cheesecloth.

Born in 1897, she was a daughter of a cabinet-maker. She was a show woman who traveled throughout Britain, holding regular séances.

In this documentary, Tony Robinson and science journalist Becky McCall to investigate the case of Helen Duncan. She was quite popular during World War II as a psychic. Her freakishly accurate forecast about military campaigns led to an MI5 investigation and her imprisonment under the witchcraft law.

She was deemed a serious threat to national security. She claimed she was merely visited by the ghost of ex-servicemen who told her secrets she could never have known.
