In interviews reported by PEOPLE and republished by AOL, Deschanel called the process “more exploratory” in December 2025; Scott said in March 2026 that the date and location were still undecided.
What does “exploratory” mean for their wedding plans?
In a December 2025 PEOPLE interview republished by AOL, Deschanel said, “It’s more exploratory.” She explained that they were not rushing: “We’re not in a rush because we’ve been together so long, so it’s not like we’re like, ‘We gotta get married.’ I’d rather find the right place, the right place and situation, so that it’s really special and fun,” she said. Read the report.
Deschanel also said the “bar is high for throwing a party,” adding that it had made planning take time. The remarks describe their approach, not a confirmed venue or event plan.
What kind of celebration do they want?
Scott described the wedding as something they wanted to feel warm. In the December 2025 interview, he said they had not figured out where it would be, had made no plans, and were busy with the children’s activities.

In a later PEOPLE interview reported by AOL in March 2026, Scott said they wanted an intimate gathering with people who valued their friendship: “I think we have decided we want to be around the people who actually love our friendship and love spending time with us,” he said. Those are stated preferences, not a confirmed guest list or ceremony arrangement. Read the report.
Have they chosen a date or location?
No. In the March 2026 interview, Scott said, “And at some point, we’ll figure out a date and a location and all that stuff, but we haven’t done it yet.” The latest cited update therefore establishes no wedding date, venue, guest count, or finalized ceremony plan.
